Textured Background. This tutorial will show how to place a texture on the background and not on the main subject in your Image or where ever you do not want the texture. Let’s get started. 1. Open your Image. 2. Open your Texture. 3. Convert it to Black and White if needed Ctrl/CMD+Shift+u. 4. Select the texture Ctrl/CMD+a. 5. Copy the texture Ctrl/CMD+c. 6. Go back to your Image. 7. Paste the texture Ctrl/CMD+v. 8. Resize the texture to fit over your Image as needed Ctrl/CMD+t. 9. When you are done resizing press return or click the check mark. 10. Turn off the eye on the texture layer by clicking on it. 11. Select your image layer. 12. Make a rough Selection around the subject where you do not want the texture to appear. 13. Go to Select>Feather and enter an amount between 25 and 50 depending on your image. 14. Turn on the eye on the texture layer and make sure it is selected. 15. Go to Filter>Blur>Average. You are applying this to the selection on the texture layer. 16. Change the Blend mode to Soft Light on the texture layer. 17. The background should now have the texture applied to it. 18. With the texture layer still selected - Use the Smudge tool (keyboard shortcut r) if the texture has gotten onto part of the image that you want to protect from the texture. If your image has gotten too dark or too light you can add a levels adjustment layer to correct. Enjoy You can download some free textures from the Skylum website. skylum.com/luminar/marketplace/textureYou are allowed to download/copy the instructions for your use, either personal or business. Thanks fotofrank for an easy and very useful tut. I learn a lot from these challenges but don't seem to be able to remember what I learn. Now, what was that tut about? LOL i.ibb.co/PNk6L0K/texture.jpg

Sepiana - Very nice adds with the border. Your apple pops right off the page.
tpgettys - Great use of a second texture to add a vignette

Had another play with one of the pictures I took of a miniature orchid. Used the multiply blend mode. Very old texture from Pixel Dust Studios.
