Thank you jim0004 so much for the detailed explanation of your workflow for this with the addition of the sketch layer. I have been having a play and once again it has been brought home to me that what holds us or should I say me, back - is really the limitations of our own imaginations. That’s why this kind of Challenge is good as we can share our different experiences and results.

Image from morguefile Used jim0004 recipe for this one. Free Texture of nature by Brooke Shaden from promotingpassiondotcom Did the lithograph then the sketch effect. Used a levels adjustment on the sketch layer to darken it and then merged with the lithograph layer. Placed the texture below the merged layer and blended with the Hard Light blend mode.

Tourerjim, I like the way you added the hint of color. I tried that as well. After seeing yours, I realize I didn't bring back enough. Lillias, a beautifully designed page. As well as the framed lithograph, I like the way you handled the flowers. Jim0004.....well thought-out edit....I like it a lot. Thanks Helen, if it helps I do number of images and save each to desktop, 'save as' Jpg each one then open them all in picture viewer, then mouse over the thumbnails on the taskbar and you can view them all as you mouse back n forth, It's good way to judge your own work

Got off to a slow start as I don't have a PSE version with Lithography in Quick Edit. Finished up doing the equivalent using Adjustment Layers (B&W, Hue/Sat-Colorize, Levels) and dropping in a Graphic Pen layer to add distress. Image from files with a sky replacement, frame from textures.com Tony

Very interesting use of the Graphic Pen. As a side note, we did this kind of effect a few years ago. The steps involved a mix of filters and blending modes. The most interesting was the use of Filter>Render>Clouds. Creative Effects Challenge No. 21 – Lith Print Effect

Step 2 before step 1, this time. Sketch effect then blend with the original. Merged together then used the litho effect. Finally, added the frame. Jim

Great job - I like it alot. Is that Babcock Mill in WV? Jim, I'm signed up with MorgueFile and they send me a monthly package of good images and this is one of them. There never is any indication as to where they were taken, but I have now googled this one and from the bridge in the background it seems to be Glade Creak Grist Mill in DaneseWV

tonyw...I have to give you 10 out of 10 for finding a workaround for this effect and it looks excellent. Well done. Sepiana...Gosh I hadn’t realised that we had tackled this effect before as I had forgotten all about Challenge No.21. Looking through it I see I took part in it too!! Thanks for bringing it to our attention again. jim0004...Another great image. I just love these old trains.

Thanks for bringing it to our attention again. I had all but forgotten about this challenge. It just happened that some time ago I was checking the CE Index for challenges to revisit and noticed this one.

Have to start by saying that I LOVE your jewelry box idea, ritage ! Lillias.....what a great idea to leave the second part of the tut open-ended. It's so interesting to see how people are using their litho images. I started with an image that I had already added a painterly effect to so the outcome is a little different.....and I went with a darker tone this time. And.....because I've been working on a triptych assignment......I tried it with my results.

I went with a darker tone this time. That looks perfect to me Helen and I love the framed triptych. A very nice way of displaying your edit.
