Yes the border is a better size here Clive. Nice scene for your triptych too, I like it.
Interesting to learn that you did watercolours...would love to see some of those...you are a man of many talents.

I don't' save layers Jim and my photoshop skills are limited. I appreciate the suggestion and did give it a try.  And a very nice try Helen and effective on the black background. |

a 'quint-tych' -- with a little bit of pulled pixels photo: cats4jan 
To do pulled pixels - take a thin vertical slice of any photo - put that selection on it's own layer - grab the move tool and pull sideways to fill page I used this technique when I didn't have a coordinating background paper. Obviously, you can do this with a horizontal selection and make vertical stripes - or do what I do - turn the paper sideways after creating it the original way LOL |

another 'fiver' photo:cats4jan animal silhouette extracted from another of my photos - a sign at the entrance to the animal kingdom background created by brushes (if you want a straight line of brushing, hold down the shift key as you drag across your page - when creating background paper using brushes, similar colors work best - unless you are looking for a dramatic contrast)  |

That looks like a beautiful place When I used to accompany my husband to conventions, I had a lot of free time to wander the resort and take photos. I was lucky enough to photograph some amazing scenery. |

It's been interesting to see how well this technique has been used in your scrapping layouts Helen, it is a favorite of mine. So many photos do well when divided like that. It's a great technique. I'm glad it's been shared in this thread, so everyone can take a stab at it. As for pulled pixels - you can't believe how many of my layouts have used it - it's great for creating background paper that exactly coordinates with your photo. I'm a "coordinator" - I'm not much into contrast because I'm not good at it. Pulled pixels is such an easy technique to achieve a coordinating look. |
