Stopped to take this the other day when I was out. I wasn't able to isolate any of the grasses so wasn't really pleased with the image. Haven't seen the sun since so will post this for now but hope to come back with something I like better before the end of the month.

tonyw Thanks for the interesting comparison. The colour image, which I love by the way, is obviously all about the glorious colour. But with the monochrome I think you notice a lot more: the dappled light on the ground, the path leading off into the light makig you want to explore. So they both work really well, but for different reasons. billz I love the juxtaposition of the high key background with a fairly grungy feel, against the detailed texture of the foreground angel with the light just glancing. Great that you kept the detail in her wings, I might have been tempted to darken that to oreate a frame, but I would have been wrong. pontiac1940 Great to compare the translucence of th peatls where the light comes through, the change to shadows and then the solidity of the stamens. hmca I recognise your disappointment that it wasn't what you expected, but we don't know that, and for me it works pretty well. I like the horizontal bands of black, white and grey detail. There is enough in it to make me want to zoom in, and if it makes you go back to a lovely spot then its a win-win.

Finally a glimpse of the sun and couldn't resist shooting Canada Geese on a partly frozen lake (with the camera that is!) straight into the sun. I was amused to see how many of them stand on one leg - I assume that's while they warm the other one up - it was a cold day. Conversion to B&W in Silver Efex Pro 2
