I did not want to start a new thread on Adobe Support so added a side note about the cropping tool cause freezes and crashes.

Sepiana, thank you for your help on this matter. For now, I will keep things as they are, and see what happens. If I ever decide to uninstall - reinstall, which is a big deal for me, I may come back for a consultation... However, I will eanable the "remind me later" option for updates. Clive, thank you for reporting the problem. For the record, I will do a "Me too" comment concerning the color picker on the Adobe Support Community - Photoshop Elements forum. There we are. Maurice, you are most welcome! As I said earlier, uninstalling/reinstalling is a drastic fix. If your workflow is not severely compromised, just hang in there. Having the "Remind me later" option turned on will buy you some time when Adobe releases the next update. You can delay updating until you see how things go. |

I've discovered this behavior on my (macOS 10.15.7 Catalina) 2021(?) copy also. First, the only time I get the small circle 'marker' is with fairly light colors. Of course, like pontiac1940 reported, it is nowhere near the actual selected color, it is always in the upper, left-hand corner (usually the most 'white' area). Second, my Adobe Photoshop Elements 2021 Editor "About" menu says the version is: " 19.0 (20210126.m.155261) x64". It would appear that the "2021" is basically the 2019 version with minor tweaks resulting in "build" number 20210126.m.155261. Lastly, he also states, "When you change canvas size and need to change colors, here...". Perhaps this should be in a separate thread, but where does this statement come from. Or why is it true? Or what does it have to do with the subject of this thread? Just curious, not a challenge!  Feel free to contact me via PM if you like. |

If you haven't done so yet, I strongly recommend you post on the Adobe forum. Adobe is already aware of problems with the Color Picker but the more information they can get the better. There is a thread already going on there. PSE 2021 color picker not working properly after the Feb 4 updateSecond, my Adobe Photoshop Elements 2021 Editor "About" menu says the version is: " 19.0 (20210126.m.155261) x64". Adobe stopped using sequential numbers when naming versions of Elements. The last version to follow this pattern was Photoshop Elements 15. Now they are using sequential years. Ex.: PSE 2018, PSE 2019, etc. This means that under the hood, . . . PSE 2018 = version 16.0 PSE 2019 = version 17.0 PSE 2020 = version 18.0 PSE 2021 = version 19.0 |

Thanks for the info Sepiana! I obviously don't look at the start-up dialog that often!  I wonder who came up with this "solution"? Having the current year sounds much better (newer!) ("See, it's the new version!") than a simple sequential but not 'dated' number. If it's good enough for cars, it's good enough for everything! Toe MAYtuh/Toe MOToe... LOL! |
