So many wonderful images this week. I'm afraid that my choices will necessarily leave out some very deserving and excellent work. My own biases will have to come into the decision or I'll never be able to do this. #1. Kathy Lee - Searching Despite my preference for minimally edited or manipulated photographs, this one just struck a chord. Perhaps because of a 40 year old photo I have of my niece: #2. Helen - Grand Canyon 2009. The pastel colors lend a mood to this that I love. Would be a wonderful print as the focal point on any wall. #3. Sepiana - Lonesome. I'm a sucker for dogs and canines. This one worked for me. Really, there were so many winners this time, such wonderful and moving images, that I feel totally unqualified to judge them. I could have tossed the dice and picked them almost randomly and not been wrong. My thanks to all who contributed this week.

My own biases will have to come into the decision Being that is the way all art is viewed, there is no need to apologize for this, Rick. Thank you so much for joining the IOW Judges. You did a great job narrowing down your choices from a strong field of contenders. Congratulations to Kathy Lee for earning the top pick. Glad to see Sepiana's dog/wolf and my Grand Canyon image included as well.

I know how you feel Rick. I judged for the first time recently and it's not easy. There are so many beautiful images to choose from but a choice has to be made and I suppose whether we know it or not we all have biases so don't feel bad about that. Congratulations to Sepiana and to Helen and special congratulations to Kathy Lee for IOW.

preebThank you for judging Rick. Congrats to Kathy Lee, Helen and Sepiana. "My own biases will have to come into the decision" Absolutely! The objective "score sheet" tick boxes for composition and technical aspects only go so far. We all judge images based on subjective personal tastes. Well done. Clive

Thank you for considering and choosing my picture for IOW this week, it is appreciated. I cannot imagine the job of picking a few pictures out of so many great pictures. Glad it was you and not me!!!!!!! Congrats to Helen and Sepiana, great pics.

Rick, thank you for judging. You have done an excellent job. You deserve to proudly give yourself a big hug and noble pat in the back. Congratulations to you for your first time, to the nominees, to all who submitted an image, in this thread or another one, and to all who took the time to look at and appreciated an image submitted. Bravo!

preeb Sorry, late to this. Thanks for joining the panel and well done on making a great selection; as has been said, there are no wrong answers, whatever grabs you is what grabs you. Yes it can be really tough choosing, and yes my favourites will differ on any given day, but I find judging and critiquing such a useful exercise in helping me learn, benefiting my own images.
