I'm setting up a NEW out of the box computer, it is an exact copy of the old one but I hope it doesn't have the same problem's.
The local store Mgr went against Company policy and just swapped it out. They (The Company) wanted me to box it up and send it to a repair center in Tennesee (I'm in Texas),,25-30 days out of business and some possible OOP costs on my end. I wasn't a happy camper when they told me that and expressed that once again to the local guy. He said, " That's ridiculous, bring it to me, I'll fight the battle with my bosses". I kinda think he has that authority on a situational basis. I hung up the phone and started unhooking cables, got dressed, and was back home unpacking the machine in less than an hour.
Now I get to do all the tweaking to my needs for the second time in a week.

Hi dicklaxt - just a little tip in case you are not aware. If it's a Windows PC, I strongly recommend manually creating a Restore Point before each application installation or major "tweak". Then if something doesn't work as expected after the installation you can always then go back to where you were before the installation and then try again. I think Windows will normally automatically create a Restore Point prior to the installation but personally I prefer to create my own, for peace of mind. Good luck

Well done, dicklaxt, for digging your heels in, as it were. What a result I can sympathise with you regarding setting your PC up, yes, even twice in a week! My laptop, only 14 months old, has had problem, and another problem, and yet another problem so, for the 3rd time, I've reformatted and reinstalled Windows 8 yesterday (did all this last Friday, then it crashed when loading drivers). Then updated to 8.1 last evening and managed to download the last of the updates last night and left it to install them overnight! So, today, yes, installed Avast! which is now scanning the laptop so, once this is finished, I can get going with all the usual software. So, I do hope your intallations all go well, of course qBall, thanks so much for that tip re creating Restore Points. I'll see to that. I also will be creating an image of the whole drive in the hope it will save me some grief at a later date when it needs a clean start again. So, dicklaxt, keep at it and keep us up-to-date with your progress, eh? I'll be thinking of you ...
