Hi everyone, Would you like to participate in the Weekly Photo Challenge? Just take a photo that is your interpretation of the theme and post it in this thread. The rules are rather simple.
- Your photo(s) should be your own, i.e., they should not have been taken by someone else. - Photoshopping is allowed but should be kept to the basics only rather than a total transformation. - Grab your camera, experiment, and, most of all, have fun. NOTE This week’s theme is about capturing what your community (or yourself) is doing to protect and save our planet. Grab your camera and let it be a witness to your efforts! The inspiration for this theme came from this image by dennis9 (Brenda)

Reducing plastic.....Glass storage and stainless steel straws. Don't really like the straws and have opted to go strawless instead.

Interesting theme and I went for a completely different approach as I live in a farming community and this field near me is a good example of modern farming practices aimed at being good for the environment (and saving fuel and $'s). In the old days fields would be ploughed between crops but now no-till farming is becoming much more common. This field grew corn last year and after harvesting the corn residue was left and soybeans planted in rows exactly one each side of last years corn stalks - easy to do with today's GPS controlled autonomous tractors that can plant seeds or inject fertilizer to within an inch or so accuracy. I feel somewhat a hypocrite to participate this week while Portland shatters all-time heat records and I stay indoors with the air-conditioner set to "Long Arctic Winter". Nevertheless here's our latest commitment to living as green as we can. 58.4 miles per gallon to date. Good theme Brenda and Sepiana.

Bill and Jim both need electrical power so here's some from the sun. This sun tracking solar panel is in fact feeding the grid next door to us so I like to think our air conditioner is using local solar generated electrons Tony

Reducing plastic.....Glass storage and stainless steel straws. A sign about recycling schedule attached to our Trash Room door. Helen, two nice examples of efforts to Save the Planet. Reducing the use of plastic is a BIG step.

Tony, very interesting interpretation of Save the Planet. This kind of farming makes much more sense from an environmental point of view (and an economical one).

Jim, great finding! A small yet very powerful weapon in the battle to protect/save our planet, our home.

Going with a green car is a big contribution to the welfare of our planet. You should be commended.
