I couldn't get over how real this guy looked. He just arrived at a newly refurbished hotel next to our favorite restaurant. He is an off-shoot of the city's Horse Fever project. Although not painted liked the originals, I like the realism. The font used for the word 'realism' is Gloss And Bloom Regular It's my new favorite font. The border was created using the letter U

The Horse Fever public art project was created in 2001 by Marion Cultural Alliance in partnership with Florida Thoroughbred Breeders’ and Owners’ Association. In 2005, MCA created a traveling herd of horses, dubbed Horse Fever in Motion. Then in 2011, to commemorate the Horse Fever 10th year anniversary, MCA created a new herd featuring 31 new artists’ designs. These horses have traveled to events all over Ocala. This year marked the 20th Anniversary with new sculptures showcased at a neighboring community. The one at the top was commissioned by our community's residents.

On a side note, I think these two layouts showcase how one digital scrapper can be in two zones as far as creating. The one at the bottom has a 'collage' feeling, the one at the top is more artistic. I prefer when I'm able to make layouts like the one at the top, but more and more - as I age - I find I don't always have it in me.
Often the difference is because I used a template - but in the case above, it was because a scrapbook kit had some nice items that fit my theme. There is such talent out there - just google "digital scrapbook kits/templates" and look around. Don't be afraid to use all the help that's out there.
But, no matter your challenge, I encourage you to design with your photos. Having your photos sitting on a hard drive, not being shared, is a shame.

So much to like about the two pages you have shared, Janice. The top one may have been from a kit.....but you made a perfect choice in deciding which kit to use and arranging the layout. Again you have pointed out how you have used a font creatively to make the border. I like the look of having the border on just two sides of the page. Just downloaded Gloom and Bloom. TFS! Interesting to read the information about the horses on the bottom page. A visually attractive layout with a perfect background.....must have been fun to hunt down the various horses to photograph. As a side-note......since the IOW thread allows for adding information for sources used by scrappers, you and Lillias , and any other member who might be interested, may want to think about submitting your work for inclusion in an IOW submission thread. It would be nice to see some of your beautifully designed pages highlighted in the IOW Gallery.

You have been busy Janice. I LOVE that first page. Great design/layout. I love the frames with the raised corners and the staples, the leaf embellishment over the top of one of the frames and the art palette with the paint brushes etc; is a perfect finish for the page. Ingenious use of the font to create the border. So well done. TFS the font too. I got it downloaded and installed.
The layout of the second page is nice, the horses I like - but I would have preferred if they had been represented in their proper colours and not painted. That’s just a personal thing I realise and not a criticism of your page and given that the project has raised more than a million dollars I can only say well done indeed.

The painted horse project was about using the horse sculpture as a canvas - individual companies and private groups designed their horse to represent their group. I had never seen one of them painted to represent a real breed. I, too, prefer the “real” horse

Loved reading about the painted horses, and both of your pages are brilliant in their own way. Over here there is an art movement called Moooving art and it involves painted cows! When we are allowed to travel again I will try and hunt down a few examples to make a page of my own, I am alway inspired by your pages and presentation ideas, thanks also for the font that I now have to have...
