Not the best quality photo, but an exciting event none-the-less. It seems our eagle is back in the neighborhood. This morning he was eating on the edge of our lake. Couldn't see what he was eating but in the past, it was a carp he had gotten from the lake. A neighbor had sent me a photo she'd taken the other day of him on my roof, so I know he's back and not just visiting. In the past, I have seen him/her teaching the kids how to fish. What a sight that was. Taken with my iPhone. I chanced going out the lanai door because the photos I had taken through the screens were just not working. However, when I started walking closer to get a better shot, I spooked him. It's times like this I wish I had some decent camera equipment.

Met several people I know in the river valley today. One had brought seeds to feed the chickadees.

I need to get photos of my little buddy doing this; I think we have those type birds around here; she would think that was plumb awesome.
How long must one hold out their hand before a bird lands on it ?
Will more than one light on your hand ?
Hand-feeding these birds reminds me of an event from several years ago.
One of the locals laid down in a low spot and had his buddies cover and conceal him with leaves and then dump some bird seed and shelled corn on top.
They all went off and hid while he remained still and hidden.
A big Tom Turkey came along and walked right on top of him.
He grabbed the Turkey by the hind legs and it brought him straight up out of the pile of leaves and about beat him to death before he could turn it loose.

I need to get photos of my little buddy doing this; Both kids and adults who have not done this before just love it. The lady who owns the hand in the photo gave some seeds to a young girl (perhaps 12) and her mom. They both thought it was was plumb awesome. You are unlikely to see chickadees ... they are found in the very eastern tip of Kentucky ... here. However you probably have Downy Woodpeckers and they will feed out of hand. These chickadees are along a popular walking trail and have been used to people and know all about sunflower seeds.

That is cool !
That curve looks like somewhere someone would send me in the dark with a big load of cattle using a quickly sketched map on the back of a calendar leaf --- in pre-cellphone days.
Is that a road for vehicles or just a well maintained trail ?

Hi Buckskin It is a walking & biking trail (maintained by the township parks). It is a steep part of the trail and my guess is that in winter that guard rail did its job. BTW, the two deer crossed the trail and then waited and watched....haha
