I routinely kill these store bought orchids, imagine my surprise when I discovered this one had actually reflowered.

imagine my surprise when I discovered this one had actually reflowered. Very nice Jacki. Orchids flowers are lovely. Not to brag. We always have four to six orchids in the kitchen bay window. In winter it can be quite chilly there yet the orchid plants last for several years. Two or three are always in bloom and the blooms last months. When the blooms are finished they sit for 3 or 4 months and eventually a new flower stalk appears. Great fun. My wife tends them which entails watering on occasion and they get a micro dose of 20-20-20 fertilizer about once per year.

A couple of days before full moon but a clear night so trying out the long lens with a tele converter - hand held to see how good the camera stabiliser works. Tony

A complementary pair of finches - one yellow goldfinch and a red house finch sitting waiting for a free space at the feeder. The goldfinch is showing a bit more yellow - perhaps a sign on spring on the way although at -17°C this morning you wouldn't know it. u.cubeupload.com/TonyW/U6JZjf.jpgTony
