The cat was leaping from the second story landing to a second story loft area - across an opening that was open to the first floor. He was following a piece of wadded paper my son threw. How he ever managed to get himself between the posts is beyond me. And yes, once my son missed the loft and the paper went down to the first floor -- and the cat followed it. He shook off his fall and ran back up the stairs to continue the fun. I discovered his love for the tape measure when I had it out to measure something. I could not get my work done because he thought it was a new toy. This was the cat who used to play fetch. However, he just wouldn't bring the toy all the way back to me. He would drop it just out of arm's reach. I told him we couldn't play if he didn't bring it all the way, but he just didn't listen.
Gosh how I miss him and his brothers.
