in contrast, your entire group are bundled up like Eskimos. HA HA! It was chilly on Saturday for sure. We've had weeks of sweltering heat, but at least the humidity here is very low, so that helps. A wet, cold front came through on Saturday and the hall is not heated as it's never used off-season. There is a nice fireplace in the hall, but we chose to leave coats and hoodies on. Having the fireplace on would have put people to sleep!  |

One downside of demonstrating PSE with a digital projector (and screen) is that the PSE interface (?) text and icons are so small when projected. Good thing we were a small group. Apparently, in Zoom you can share a computer screen with others in the Zoom meeting , here. So if we do this again, attendees can bring a laptop and we can hold a Zoom mtg and then everyone can follow along on their own screens. I'd love to try this. There is Wi-Fi in the hall so everyone can connect their laptops. Comments about this Zoom feature are welcome. (I like the personal contact, but gosh you could hold a tutorial/demo online with attendees at home. Hummmm....) Thanks again. Clive Clive, I use Zoom screen sharing regularly. Its quite easy to use. You click "Screen Sharing" and choose the window you want to share. On a PC, if necessary, you can use Control + the mouse scroll wheel to zoom in. support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/201362153-Sharing-your-screen-content-or-second-cameraThe "host" who starts the session should have screen sharing enabled by default. If another person needs to use screen sharing then you need to make that person a "Co-host". The free version of Zoom has sessions that last for a maximum of 40 minutes then it automatically closes, and then you need to open a new session to start another 40 minutes. Tip: If you are all in the same room then make sure everyone's microphone is turned off from within the Zoom app, otherwise you will get a lot of feedback. Kind regards Chris |

I use Zoom screen sharing regularly. Its quite easy to use. Chris, Thank you. That's awesome to know. The 40-minute limit could be a constraint but as you said, we can just hold another session. Google has a Zoom wannabe called Hangouts and I will look into its features too. I can't see doing this in the near feature, but just knowing your success with Zoom sharing is important. Is your photography school going to be a weekly, bi-monthly, or monthly venture ? ; I bet every one of those people are looking forward to the next class. BuckSkin This was supposed to be a one-time event, but folks are interested in getting together again. Some options might be: - Going over gear and settings (although I barely know settings in my own camera)
- Casual road trips around the countryside near the summer place or even to a nearby national park
I like casual drive-abouts and we can stop and photograph anything. Wild flowers, scenery, each other...we could be critiques/commentary after. Clive |

Trains make ideal targets, still or moving; and, they are interesting and ever-changing; you can go to the same spot a dozen times and never see the same thing twice. A moving train is good practice for back-button focusing and AI-Servo. You could divide the class time between learning the camera (inside on bad days - outside on good days), learning basic editing and also how to take advantage of RAW, and field trips. You got this thing started --- you can't quit now. |

Aren't you right on the Canadian Pacific mainline The CPR mainline is to the north and goes through Calgary. However, the southern freight route goes through our small town (Coaldale) and only a few minutes from the summer place at Cowley. The problem is there is no schedule ... times are random and not available to the public...at least the last time I inquired. They are all "resource" trains: Saskatchewan potash going to Asia; lumber from BC heading east; wheat from the prairies going to Vancouver and then Asia and elsewhere; oil going to Vancouver refineries. These are all photographed at Cowley, Alberta. The retro train used to stop at the Cowley siding. It was a fancy-dancy tourist train for folks with DEEP pockets. It stopped here and the tourists were bussed to Waterton Lakes NP about 45 minutes away.     |

Have you tried the feature Adobe introduced back in PSE 2019? It allows you to adjust the UI Scale Factor. I have encountered the problem you describe; setting it to 200% - Large did the trick.  |

The problem is there is no schedule ... times are random and not available to the public... Great train pics ! You need to get acquainted with a "railfan" ; being located as you are, I would be surprised if there were not a hundred or so within the community; those guys have a mysterious way of knowing exactly when and where to see trains; most also have railroad frequency scanners. Be careful, though, it is addictive ... and no known cure once you get the bug. |

I was going to write this morning and say it does not work because nothing changed, but I fired up PSE 2021 this morning and there it was...large as life. Some things are too large, but this feature would have been great on the weekend. I'd probably lean to screen sharing via Zoom, Google Hangouts or Skype. But you suggestion is good to know. Thanks.
