My experience has been that sometimes it boils down to what image works best with what sketch effect. There are so many of them and not only do they produce different effects, sometimes the image that is chosen makes a difference.

Curious what you did with the opacity later on the top? Leave it at zero or small addition? I ran the action again to answer the question you had asked me about the top layer. I hadn't noticed it was the fill that needed to be adjusted Just adding some clarification for the benefit of Elements users, particularly new ones. Elements does not have Fill Opacity; this is a Photoshop-only feature. For possible workarounds, see . . . Fill Opacity.

I’m not sure why Fill would be any different in this case where one is just brining some of the original image back. But I did experiment and I actually like it better in Multiply mode with 44% opacity.

Another one that I liked with the sketch action.

Hi Stinson, I love the effect. Thanks for sharing
Are there any variations required for portraiture. I am going to give it a go on my favourite portrait of my wife.

popcorn pay attention to the instructions at the end and if you have questions post them. Basically three adjustment. All the set points in the Levels Adjustment Layer The opacity of the top layer the blend mode of the Background Copy Layer. Butt if you change one you might want to go back and change the others again.

Here's one I did with this sketch effect, but the texture really made it interesting to me.

I like this one-click action Michael. The adjustments you can make to the individual layers work well.

From my picture collection 2005 even old cameras can still work well with this action.
