This one is losing the test of time.
Don't they all? Everything we build looks so permanent to us, but not to the trees. I really think that juxtaposition puts it into perspective.
I can't help wondering what your pictures there would look like today...
Old proverb . . . . . Time laughs at all things, but the pyramids laugh at time.Hope you don't mind me adding this, BuckSkin.

Thanks; I don't know why I didn't crop out that pole and clone away the utility vehicle at far right. This will eat at me and I will revisit it someday to make those corrections....; or, I will just swing by there and take more photos; I pass by there quite often. Well that shouldn’t be hard to fix if you ever decide to address it. I rarely have an image worth sharing that isn’t first edited. I took a number of photos yesterday at quite a distance....hoping after editing and cropping I can create some keepers.

The carpenter was showing out on this barn as it is Gambrel Roof in both directions; you don't see many like it around here. I suspect that it may be of timber-frame construction. Located on the South side of KY Hwy 100, a bit West of Fountain Run and the Monroe County line. Photo Taken from a Moving Vehicle. One of the many hindrances of through-the-glass photos is the American flag superimposed on the barn; as best I remember, the guy driving had a flag on his shirt and it has somehow gotten reflected in the glass. If I had of done that on purpose, I would have thought I was pretty cool. My vantage point was not the best; I went ahead and posted it here due to it's design; I need to revisit that location and give that rare barn the photographic attention it deserves. I like this last one a lot. If you have the time I think it is worth revisiting or editing again to remove the black distraction in the upper corner.

I like this last one a lot. If you have the time I think it is worth revisiting or editing again to remove the black distraction in the upper corner. After looking up this one and posting it, I have moved my intentions to do it more justice way up the list. That black corner is the bill of the cap the driver was wearing; the un-cropped original has his face, whiskers, nose, and all. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to crop enough away and still have the barn. I am glad you like it. Maybe I can get back there and get it from all sides and angles and maybe inside.

This chicken-house is located on the South side of KY Hwy 100, on the West side of the Long Creek crossing. Satellite view shows a second identical house, immediately behind this one, mostly collapsed and on the ground. Back in the 1960s and early 1970s, almost everyone had a couple huge chicken-houses, mostly raising "broilers" ; the hideous aroma is still embedded in my sinuses. Hope and pray that nobody ever puts a chicken-house in your neighborhood; the stench is atrocious and the ammonia will burn the eyes right out of your head, let alone the air being full of that bird disease that makes you go blind. Anyone greedy enough to go into the chicken business has absolutely no concern whatsoever for their neighbors. The only thing worse than a chicken-house is a rendering plant. Photo Taken from a Moving Vehicle; please pardon the poor quality. Westbound KY Hwy 100 Allen County Cumberland River Ferry Roadtrip Wednesday_10-June-2020

Somewhere in Adair County This one has been given temporary reprieve. Although from a distance, it looks almost like a new barn; closer examination reveals that the boxing is quite old and shows the effects of many years of rain splashing back up on the bottom of the planks; it really shows on the doors. It sports a reasonably new coat of barn-painter's paint; nomadic barn painters used to roam the countryside, spot barns in need of paint, track down the owners, and cut a deal for a new paint job; we have had several barns painted that way over the years. Some time in the past eight or ten years, a new roof has been put down right over the old; not the best method, but a lot better than the wind peeling off the roof, one sheet at a time. The saving grace of this old barn, more than anything, is that it sits on concrete, instead of ricklety piles of field-stone, or worse yet, poles placed in post-holes to rot away at the bottom. It has been over ten years now; I need to find this barn again and see how well it has fared. Sunday_17-April-2011

The near barn in the first photo was built in 1954/55. The far barn was built in 1946. The other three photos picture the 1946 barn from the other side. Notice that a sheet of roofing has peeled loose on the 1946 barn; the owner, deceased February 2020 at 90-yr-old, had addressed the issue the next time I saw the barn. The cattle in the first photo are purebred Shorthorn. Haggard Road South Bank of Green River South Side of Antioch Hill West Side of U.S.Hwy.127 Casey County Monday_31-October-2016
