Would you like to explain this and where I posted it?

Heaven knows I am trying to post a copy of the layer's panel. What in the world is wrong here? It's just a common .jpg or .png. I tried a third extension. It didn't work either.

Frank, It seems that Pat mistakenly confused this post, where Buckskin was only trying to help, with yours. To begin with, four eights is 32; four times 6-1/4 = 25. Sometimes when you are absorbed in a frustrating problem it is easy to mix things up a bit. I would give her the benefit of the doubt and assume she didn't mean to insult anyone.

Honestly, Jan, I am trying to post a screen shot of the layer's panel. Having no luck. This is awful. And yes, the panels are all on the same layer as the rectangle. That's a thought. Let me see if putting them on different layers works. And I will give posting the image one more shot.

One layer for the background - one layer for each of the rectangles - five layers That will provide most flexibility

Frank, my apologies to you. It was someone else who mentioned the 24 vs 32 issue and I hope you will understand. Right now I think I better get off PSE&M. I am working waaay too long and too concentrated to be here. I can't even post an image!

Thank you to everyone for all the help. I truly appreciate it. I was told by people far wiser than I that I should take a break for a while and then come back to this. It seems like good advice. I will be back, that's for sure. I hope it will go easier. It usually does.

Well, first of all, Frank, I do know that 6x4 is 24 and 8x4 is 32. It's what I get for writing to PSE&M after putting in far, far too many hours trying to solve this myself. I started with three panels for the completed rectangle, then later it was changed to four. But that's not the issue. Essentially I did create the panels one by one (no problem with that part), but it's when I did a simple move to put them in the finished rectangle that I encountered problems. I tried it again this morning and at least the problem is consistent. I am attaching a photo of what is happening. The panels are unfinished but I wanted to see if it might be easier to finish them first and then place them. As an experiment I moved the first (unfinished) teal panel in place and all seemed okay. When I put the peach colored panel in, it did go in but it had the blank teal panel attached as you see in the photo! And it stays attached. It does not hold to one size, but slides around holding onto the peach colored one. I haven't tried putting in the others. I think I will do that now. This is so weird and so difficult to explain. It's a new day, and maybe I can help some. Let's start from the beginning, OK? From what you said, you created the 4 panels separately, and it looks like they are all the same size, yes? If your panels are each 6.25" x 10", they will require an image that is 25" x 10" if they are to appear side-by-side without any gaps between them.
So, you have your 4 panels; now create a new file. Click File | New | Blank file... and set the width to 25" by 10" to accommodate your 4 panels. If you used Transparent for your background contents you should see something like this, which is very similar to your image:
At this point, make the blank file active and drag each of your panels into it. You can reposition each after placing it, then do the next one. (It can get a little tricky, as they are initially placed in the center, so do the extremes first, left-most, right-most, then the middle panels to make it easy).
I hope that helps, but if not, just ignore!

I would recommend you follow Frank's suggestion to create your panels (Rectangular Marquee tool, Fixed Size). This technique accomplishes what you want to do in a very simple way. (I tried it myself; it works like a charm.)photoshopelementsandmore.com/post/88349

Hello Everyone. I am hoping the above url means the image will upload and you can see that all the work the members did to help seems to have resulted in a success. You can bet I am printing out the whole conversation here to keep for further reference. I think one thing that is very discouraging for me is that by now (I'm 77) I find I have forgotten so much about PSE from around 2000 and it has changed so much that it's like a different program. Then, too, this particular spread are pages 61 and 62 of a photo book series I decided to do during the pandemic. This is the last of 4 books I have completed. In fact, I have just one more spread (two pages)and it's DONE!! It's taken over a year. I'm glad I did it; I will never do this sort of thing again! ha Many, many thanks to everyone connected with PSE&More.

Using Elements is a continuous learning experience. It's all about living and learning.Adobe did a major overhaul of Elements back in v11; in v12 some features were removed. These changes can be quite confusing. On the bright side, the "basics" of Elements remain a constant.Feel free to post your PSE 2019-related questions on this forum. Those of us who have this version can provide help based on hands-on experience. Help can also be provided by those members who don’t have this version. NOTE: I keep an ongoing list of new features in PSE 11 and above. If you are interested, I can send it to you.

LOL! I'm right behind you Pat; I know well the feeling of my knowledge fading away.
But look at what you did! Very ambitious and DONE! I am very happy for you.
