Not happy with this - it's basic and it just doesn't 'sing' - and it's another beige/gold layout Feels like I've slipped back to 2006.
I've worked on it all day and this is all I've got and it wouldn't be even this 'fancy' if I hadn't grabbed a background from another layout to substitute for the plain gold one I had. The dog walks backwards and sideways down the stairs. I do believe he's afraid If he could hang onto the railing, I bet he would.

BUT I find this post very reassuring. It seems that most anything I attempt for posting on this board takes me an inordinate amount of time. While this might not be up to your standards; I would be thrilled if it was mine!

Helen, your work is good. I always enjoy seeing it.
Its just that after 15 years, I shouldn’t be struggling. And I need to stay away from Just Art. Those people really know how to make art. But then again, that isn’t the type of pages I want to make anyway.
Confused yet? Now you know why I struggle. 😜
For me, Scrapbooking has always been about the story. When I don’t tell a story I don’t feel fulfilled. And when I don’t use personal photos, I don’t feel fulfilled.
That is why I like your work. It has a personal feel to me.

Fun page Janice. Reminded me of my first dog - he wouldn't walk on linoleum, it had to be carpet or he wasn't going...LOL.

Lillias, our pets have as many silly quirks as we do. That’s why we enjoy sharing our homes with them.

Janice , I feel so unqualified to give you advice, but would you consider enlarging the photo and giving it more prominence on your page? I’ve never seen a dog negotiate stairs quite like this, must take some fierce concentration.

Jacki - any advice gratefully accepted. I agree with you - the smallness of the photo allows too much white space. White space is a great technique, but not when scattered across the page like I did. Maybe the best way to remedy this would be to squeeze everything into a smaller space and have the white space all around it instead of in between all the items. I may revisit this - just to see if I can make something I'm more satisfied with. I usually don't do that - but that doggie is too cute to not have a special page. Or maybe, I need to go back to my roots - find a scrapbook template that will work. As you may have figured from all the posts I've done about templates they are my 'go to' remedy when I'm stuck.
