We live about an hour from The Villages, visiting the shops/restaurants, etc., when we want a daily outing. These statues are at the entrance of one of the sections of The Villages. There are three themed sections. I'm guessing you can figure out what this section's theme is.

Looks like an interesting place to visit, love the look of those long-horn cattle figures, hope you've got the other two themes on a page coming soon, I hate not knowing...

This is my favorite section. These statues are so realistic. I’ve visited every section of The Villages many times over the last 11 years, and your request made me realize I don’t actually know the theme of the other two sections. I’ll do some research and see if I can find some photos. It’s cold and rainy today. Need a project inside.
The weather here is weird. 9 months of intense heat and humidity and when it goes away finally, but now I need to turn on the heat because it’s so cold and damp out.

Love your layout. We have visited The Villages as our friends used to live there. Forget what section they had lived in. Like Jacki and Lillias, looking forward to the next two pages.

Here is another section of The Villages. Brownwood was the last built - this one was the second built -- see the bottom of this thread for the original Village

"anywhere near water would be my idea of heaven"Then you would like where I live. Even though it’s a man-made lake created to collect rain water runoff from the streets, it has its moments. Like when a few dozen white Pelicans call it home a couple of times a year. They stocked the pond with fish to keep it clean, but when the pelicans come - look out fish. I did not know there were White Pelicans in FL until they showed up in my backyard. They've been returning since 2013 - they just started re-appearing this week. First a couple of scouts - who probably texted their buddies that the fish were just waiting for them. view from my back door

The end of The Villages story - or shall I say -- the beginning...The first village - ... when the development took a turn to this type of community, Morse decided a name change was in order - thus, the new name - The Villages And no, I don't live there - although we were looking into moving there 5 years ago. I just really like the concept of planned communities and this one is the ultimate planned community - unlike any other. The history of this 'city' fascinates me - but it is losing its charm as it out grows its original premise.

The end of the story - 40 years in the making...And - a useless fun fact to complete your knowledge base...Megan Boone, who starred in The Blacklist (a TV Series with James Spader) was raised in The Villages. Her parents relocated there when she was a child to be closer to her grandparents. That grandfather? H. Gary Morse I am betting they didn't abide by the rule that no children under 18 are allowed to permanently live in The Villages - an age-restricted 55+ community.

Thank you Janice, I have really enjoyed reading about and seeing this patch of Florida through your excellent pages. Your pages on the American white pelican in your neighbourhood was very interesting, they are very similar to our pelicans in Australia, ours seem to have more black feathers and pinkier looking throats.
