I am very glad to see that this challenge got off to such a great start. The final results on the Images are great! I love the fact that you are showing the before and after and providing the tweaks that you did. Hopefully you found the action helpful, even if you don't use it there are not a lot of steps. Frank, thanks for taking the time to comment! I truly appreciate it. Speaking for myself, running the action is my go-to option. I love how easy and how effective it is.

Thought I'd see what happened with a B&W landscapish image - here's the result: Before: After: Tony

Thank you fotofrank . Fun process. I "learned" Orton quite differently many years go, but used V2 from your post. Thanks. The Teddy-Bear's Picnic lyrics © Sony. Melody by Jimmy Kennedy (1907) and lyrics by John W. Bratton (1932). I've posted this photo before ... taken on September 27, 2021 at Waterton Lakes National Park, Alberta.

These are some great examples of how the Orton effect can change the look of your image.
I greatly appreciate seeing the action being used. The two versions of the action give very different results.
Great job everyone.

Is it just me, or is anyone else affected. The 'after' pictures play havoc with my eyes.

Margaret, the Orton Effect was invented by a photographer named Michael Orton back in the 1980s using slide film. It creates an effect where the image appears both highly detailed but also soft and dreamy, resulting in a very distinctive and almost fantasy/dreamy style. This was done by combining multiple exposures of slide film – One of which was in focus and the other(s) out of focus.
Basically you are seeing the intended effect of the Orton process. Please run the action and give it a try.
