As for using the Print Screen button on the keyboard as you use, HOW do you save the captured screen shot after pressing the Print Screen key? I do NOT see (File>Image from Clipboard) I am guessing because I do not have a saved capture. Charles, My apologies. The command is File>New>Image from Clipboard. I will edit my previous post to correct it. After you capture the screenshot, you use this command to open it in Elements. The screnshot will be displayed in the workspace. Then, you can edit it if needed and save it (JPEG, PSD, etc.) Thank you Sepiana! You proved you are human!!! <smyle>

For Mac's Shift/Command/3 - is a screenshot of the entire screen Shift/Command/4 - is for grabbing a partial of the screen - kinda like the marquee tool in PSE (the good news is - I can grab a partial screenshot while things are highlighted) They are automatically saved as a png - I have chosen for them to land on the upper right corner of my desktop Janice, I am on a Windows 10 computer still very old school.

Now we are talking about taking screenshots, I will add that the screenshot feature in FastStone beats anything else I have used by far. It is handy for MAC people that they can use a keyboard sequence to deploy the screenshot tool. I just downloaded FastStone Image Viewer 7.5 and the Tutorial. In the tutorial Contents I do not see anything about screen shots. In the tutorial I see how to CHANGE the exif file, but WHERE do I find how to view the exif file?

Charles, you are most welcome! Glad to help. I cannot find a way to use the Shape Selection tool (gray arrow icon) to do what you want -- draw an arrow. You use the Shape Selection tool to "edit" the shape you drew using one of the other tools in that group. With one click, you select the shape and, then, you can move or transform it. The usual way to draw an arrow is to use the Custom Shape tool (blue blob icon) > Custom Shape picker > Arrows. There is also another way -- the Line toolI believe you that now you cannot find a way to Shape Selection Tool to draw an arrow. But I know I USED to be able to do just that!! Clicking on the arrow NOW you cannot do ANYTHING with it including change to a different shape, at least I can't do that. I was not aware an arrow could be made starting with the line shape. That is interesting.

Charles - the answer from adobe. The gray arrow is the Shape Selection tool - NOT a shape tool. As one of those MAC people, the built in screen capture is far superior to anything else out there. Frank, As I mentioned to Sepiana, I do not find a way to select any tool from the grey selection tool. In fact the only shape I can use to select another tool is the very first tool. (The blob maybe? I did not think to add this to what I told Sepiana)

I believe you that now you cannot find a way to Shape Selection Tool to draw an arrow. But I know I USED to be able to do just that!! Charles, The shape group has 8 tools -- 7 drawing tools and 1 selection tool. Drawing tools:Custom Shape (to draw a variety of different objects, including arrows). Rectangle Rounded Rectangle Ellipse Polygon Star Line (can also be used to draw arrows). Selection tool:Shape Selection The Shape Selection tool was not designed to draw shapes; it was designed to move, resize, etc. the shapes drawn with the drawing tools.Frank posted a screenshot of this Adobe document. It confirms the above. Charles - the answer from adobe. The gray arrow is the Shape Selection tool - NOT a shape tool. Do you still have your copy of Barbara Brundage's The Missing Manual? Here is what she says about the Shape Selection tool. Source: Photoshop Elements 13: The Missing Manual, Chapter 12: Drawing with Brushes, Shapes, and Other Tools.

Sepiana, Can we agree to dis-agree?? Charles, yes, no problem. What about taking this issue to the Photoshop Elements - Adobe Support Community? They will be able to give you a definite answer on the ins and outs of the Shape Selection tool, on using it to draw arrows. If you decide to do that, post the results here. In this way, we can all benefit from their explanations/suggestions.

I would never have thought to use the "Glob" shape tool to draw an arrow! Now that I know I can, I still don't plan on doing that! LOL The "Line" tool has an extra 'dimension; that the few 'arrow' examples don't seem to have. Of course, there are probably downloadable examples, I've never looked. The 'extra' dimension is the 'rake/indent' on the base of the pointy part of the arrow. It's the "C:" box in the dimensions group (see image below). I assume it stands for "Concavity"? Line Tool: Anyway, this thread caused me to learn more about the "Shape Selection" tool/pointer/arrow. I have often wanted a curved line for my arrows; something like making text follow a curve. Sometimes a line covers things or makes it difficult to see. I only today discovered that selecting any arrow/line/shape enables the Transform functions that creates Bezier 'grab/drag' points!!! Since I'd never used the "Shape Selection" tool/pointer/arrow/thingy, I'd never seen the 'curve/Bezier tool that show at the right-hand end of the Tools Options group! The Curve/Bezier tool is called the Warp tool. It's only in Photoshop Elements 2022.
The Warp tool is available in the Transform Menu & Tool. The Warp is also available in the Shape Tool Menu. With the shape pointer - right click on the shape and choose Transform.

Charles, is there any possibility that you where using the Shape Line tool with the Arrow head option?
