My theme for the week is Sign. This trio of pictures shows Matthew wishing everyone a Happy New Year in BSL (British Sign Language). Dennis Dennis, original choice of theme, creative presentation. I love the "storyboard" effect and how our eyes are naturally drawn from a shot of Matthew towards a close-up of his hands. I envision this image framed and on the wall. Feliz Ano Novo to Matthew . . . and to you and Brenda as well!

Judy, what a beautiful "lit" image! The lights add warmth to a dark night that seems to be also very cold.

I'll go with "birds" for my theme. Here are a few from today's waddle in the valley. Stayed out most of 90 minutes but went back to the car for a few minutes to warm up. Was -20°C this afternoon. The sun was great! Clive, how can one go wrong with birds as "models", seeming to be posing for the shots? Great job -- colorful and detailed images.

My theme is "surprise". I was very surprised to see this train covered with oversized ants just outside London Bridge Station. It is of course a restaurant/bar/nightspot. But it also shocks and surprises unsuspecting passengers waiting on Platform 15. Matthew Mathew, you never cease to surprise me. What a finding! I keep going back and looking at this image. The details are impressive!

My theme for this week is "redundant", as illustrated by this poor bridge now going nowhere and carrying nobody. In the nineteenth century it carried pedestrians across the very busy Surrey Canal which transported goods to and from the south of London. With the coming of rail and road transport, the canal fell into disuse and was finally filled in. All that remains of it are two road bridges and this pedestrian bridge, now preserved as a picturesque feature of Burgess Park just south of the Thames. Brenda Brenda, very original choice of theme. I love the angle you took this shot; it emphasizes the "going nowhere/carrying nobody" of this bridge. And, as a bonus, your trademark -- the history behind your subject.

One more snowy themed pic as it snowed again last night - taken along a creek hence the reflections - converted to black and white although there really wasn't any other colour except a touch of brown in the muddy water. Tony, beautiful image on more than one count -- composition, B&W conversion, reflections, details, texture. Another job well done!
