You couldn't leave anything open in our house Don't think too hard about it - it is kinda disgusting to have a cat in the dishwasher and freezer...

Yep, I have a T shirt with a Cat drinking wine that says "I do as I please". Having two makes it all the more fun as they try to Hooligan each other as well.

LOL great page Janice. Made me smile this morning. I think the look of innocence on the faces as if to say 'what's up' is so funny.

Michael, that photo says it all. What a beautiful guy I recommend getting the whole litter like we did - of course, this litter only had three guys Their mother was a calico, but... Calico is a color pattern, not a breed. The orange, black and white coloration is governed by genetics. Any cat, male or female, can be orange, but in males the color is nearly always expressed in the tabby, or striped, pattern.
The gene that determines how the color orange displays in cats is found on the X chromosome. Female cats have two X chromosomes, while males have one X and one Y chromosome. For a cat to be a calico, the animal must have two X chromosomes, which means a calico kitty is going to be female the vast majority of the time.
When the calico pattern exists in a male, it’s because the cat has the unusual circumstance of three sex chromosomes: two X, one Y (male). If both X chromosomes carry the calico blueprint, you’re looking at one rare cat: a male calico. These unusual XXY animals, typically the result of faulty cell division, are called Klinefelter males, after the doctor who first described the condition.
Turns out, the lighter look is pretty typical - I often see cats that look pretty much like the two of them.

Here's the history behind my Avatar - my son taught the cat to climb the screen - it was funny until I realized his claws were ruining the screen

Janice we took two brothers. Once I was convinced to get one cat I insisted on two, and we wanted same sex. Turns out they couldn't be more different, yet they are brothers in every way. Buddha, originally named Bugatti for his speed, turns out to be the bigger cat, but the more mellow one until he decides he's bigger and he's the boss. That lasts about 2 min a day. He loved crunchy carbs likes bread and crackers, WTF he's a cat? Oh and cottage cheese - he will come running if he hears that lid. He's the lighter colored one as well, and is happy at night stretched over both of us if we are watching a show. Cortado - which is a coffee drink and he's so named as his coloration matches a Cortado. He is the athlete. Nimble as hell, back flips etc. Can jump from the floor to the top of a 6 1/2 foot fridge. He's the one that goes up to the Bakery sign most often. But when his brother is on the warpath he runs. He loves 4 min of Daddy time after breakfast but otherwise is happy being near people, not draped on them like his brother. He wouldn't touch a cracker or bread, but he loves broccoli and other green leafy things. WTF he's a cat. He also likes to play hide and seek in the pantry. Open the door and he will run in and hide like a 3 yo. I don't know how the pandemic impacted the bonding process and these are the first indoor cats I have had. To many hawks here to let them out. But they are very bonded to us and that's fun. I guess we escaped screen climbing because we have high up places they can. A favorite is the cabinet tops in the closet or kitchen, or the top of any door. Thanks for sharing your stories. More cat pics to come I am sure.

Sweet is part of the Hooligan routine. "Who us; no; it must have been the dog; what do you mean no dog lives here, we didn't break anything, at least not in the last hour."

Okay....I admit I am allergic to cats and dogs, even though I love all animals. However, I have a cat story..... My lovely niece and her hubby were lying in bed in the dark watching a horror movie. Just as the movie got to some gruesome, scary part, the closet door in the bedroom squeaked and started to slowly open. They watched as it opened wider and they were both pretty freaked out. Hubby decided bravery was better than fear so he got up and went to check out the door....AND......as he reached for it, something dark and full of claws jumped out of the closet and onto his head, scaring the life out of both of them. There was some flailing and screaming but everyone survived, including their black cat who had been lurking on a shelf in the closet.
Whenever I get together with this particular niece, weird things happen, such as the time when we were both golfing on a lovely course and I got a grasshopper inside my pants....but that's a story for another time. This is a cat-thread.

Pat, I can relate, and some of my guests too. Cortado the alethetic one likes to sit on my shoulders and while I usually know when he wants up, sometimes he just decides to leap from wherever and whenever. It's a bit of shock, but can you imagine when he does it to a guest. They can't.

Someone who'd never been to the house sat down and one of the cats just climbed into his lap. Good thing he was a cat lover Strangers? When did you ever hear of cats who'd go near strangers, let alone climb into their lap? _______________________ They were all the way to the ceiling - 11 feet - and yes, we had to rescue them. It looks like they were never able to entice their brother to join them... Look at those tails... They were 'babies' in this layout - merely one year old - their adult weights were around 15 lbs. They could put their paws on the table edge (from the floor) and look around to see what 'we' were having for supper They were big boys
15 lbs -- And that's before they got chubby...

Enjoying everyone’s cat stories and photos. Haven’t had a cat for quite a few years, and now that we have a greyhound I can’t see me having another. There are enough cats in the neighbourhood that visit our yard and drive her nuts, I don’t like to think of the consequences should one of them lose their balance as they walk along the fence line.
