In November, they filmed a scene for Chicago PD in my granddaughter's room - after changing things a bit to fit the story -- plus they covered the floor and walls with construction paper to protect the surfaces throughout the house.I am recording all episodes of Chicago PD as they have not yet been told when the show will air and I don't want to miss it. I'm not quite sure how their house was picked, but I'm guessing they were staging in the street and the kids wandered over and were asked to participate. There were a few other scenes filmed on the street and the house next door was used for another scene (they broke down his door - well, actually, they didn't break down his door - they put up a fake door and broke that door down) Yes, they were paid to use their house -- They told the producers - "come back anytime"

Janice,
Thanks for sharing this! I'm a big fan of Chicago PD; now I'm looking forward to watching this episode.
I believe Chicago PD will be back Wed, Jan 5. Then, they will take another break in February, during the Winter Olympics.

How exciting Janice. It's interesting to hear some of the lengths the film companies go to to create the scenes for their stories. Nice collage of images on your page. Now I guess you will have a little starstruck granddaughter...

Lillias - I know you don’t need advice about design because your work is so great, but for others who may be thinking about trying scrapbooking, here is how I worked with so many photos. The design was driven by the photos. I placed my photos on the page - since there were 3 different scenarios- that’s how I clustered them. I looked to see if there was a template that would work, but since I needed to keep the photos clustered, finding a template was impossible. So I grabbed a part of a template for that middle section. Then I resized and moved the other photos so they would be pleasing to my eye. And even though I liked that template section, those parts were resized and moved with an extra photo added by copying one of the photo holders and moving it into place. Wasn't hard to envision using only that middle section, there wasn't much else on the page The versatility - where everything is movable and deletable - is why I love templates. Since each item is on its own layer, it’s totally changeable. After my preliminary design, empty spaces made me want to find graphics to fill them. Although I love templates, I enjoyed the challenge of designing this one pretty much from scratch. The color scheme was driven by that template section I used. It was gray- gray looked good with my photos- gray it was. 👍 The background paper is a wood- looking paper blended with a solid color. Try blending two papers -- If your patterned paper overwhelms after blending, turn down its opacity. Hint: when your layout is complete, use it as your screensaver. There is something about having it staring at you when you turn on the computer that allows you to see when the design is off. You can only imagine how many spelling errors I’ve caught, too. Note: I have changed my logo for 2022. Not my favorite cat, but he was the best I could find. Wanted something different. I like to incorporate the cat into the scene whenever possible - he seems happy sitting under that director’s chair, doesn’t he. 😉 In case you haven’t guessed, I love this hobby, especially when a design works for me. My wish for 2022 is that others take “the leap” and try digital scrapbooking. Too bad this isn’t a leap year, that comment would’ve been way cooler if it were 😆

How fun for them and you! Love the page you created and appreciate the info shared above. I don't know about taking a leap but I do like trying to create a page from time to time. I appreciate the many instructive posts that you and Lillias have shared on this board along with your beautiful work.

My background paper:
Two layers: One brown wood-look paper One solid gray color
I tried blending the brown paper with the gray solid color and it turned to mud so I converted the patterned paper to black and white before blending
--Enhance> Convert to b/w
Used blend mode - Overlay

Just watched the show. Bedroom scene was too short, but it was very cool recognizing the furniture and other stuff in room. They had changed the bedspread but you could still tell it was her room. Had trouble figuring out which houses were in the outdoor scenes, but I’m pretty sure some were filmed right there.
What a fun experience for them
