This is an old page - one of my favorites of one of my favorite past times - visiting the zoo. Note: A scrapbook layout doesn't have to be fussy. A lot can be accomplished with just some layer styles and the right background paper.
The photo outlines (strokes) are off-center on purpose. This was my 'experimenting with outlines on their own layers' phase. Most times, the offset was much more dramatic than these are. Title was made by clipping the tiger photo with the text. A fat text works best for this effect. A simple outline was added to the text after clipping. It looks like a bevel might have been added, too. photos: cats4jan

Nice collage of these beautiful animals Janice. Your Title looks good. I keep forgetting that I can clip a photo or a paper to text!

I keep forgetting that I can clip a photo or a paper to text! Remember, after you clip/group your paper/photo and text, the paper/photo can be manipulated. Make sure you are on the photo/paper layer and using the move tool, manipulate the photo layer - move it/resize it, etc. For complete control, I usually use Control/Command T - (Transform) on the photo/paper layer before resizing, etc. Your text does not need to be rasterized/simplified before clipping. The best look is when layer styles are used to enhance the title - bevel works well Your background paper can be clipped to any shape, including masks.

Think this should fit in this thread, Janice. I took your challenge to use my cup image as a background. I have spent hours trying to come up with something. I liked this background I created but nothing I tried seemed to work well with it....flowers, seascapes, gymnastics pictures In the end I used different blend modes and came up with this....

Nice Helen. I think your flower works well here and looks lovely. A little bit of fairy dust.

Thanks, Lillias. I like the flower, too but I couldn't figure out how to make it work as a background for a scrapbook page which is what Janice had suggested. I do like it as a texture (?) for the flower.

Helen, it works well as you've used it. I agree that the paper itself is a little difficult to work into a layout - it has to be one that is dreamy. It worked well when you re-colored it. Pinky/Lavender is kinda hard to use as a background color. However, it would be a nice background for a really girly layout.
BTW - your fireworks photos are great - that is something I've never managed to get a good photo of - and now, when I'm only using the phone camera, I surely can't get a good photo of fireworks or the moon for that matter.

Thank you, Janice. My balcony has afforded me a great opportunity for shooting fireworks over the years. Using a tripod and ISO 100, f10 and bulb.....experience has kind of helped me know when to release the cable.
