Well, here is another try. I did use only three flowers instead of four. TFS, cjt. I like how you took the suggestions posted and created your new layout. Nicely done...

One more version. Only change is the background. It is a crop of a large rock that was also in the Peace Garden. There are many such interesting rocks left from the Ice Age. Lots of textures. But, does it work in this case?? TIA cjt

I think you've come up with an interesting page, I like the look of the rocky background too.

That is an interesting idea to add something from the garden as a background. I wonder if you might use a different color for the band behind the flowers.....and maybe with a hard edge being it is against the rock? Possibly a green band? Someone else might be able to give you a better suggestion.

cjt Helen wrote ... I wonder if you might use a different color for the band behind the flowers One option would be a large drop shadow around each inset. Not sure if this poster a good example or not. The insets have an inner glow, a stroke border and light shadow. Clive

There are endless possibilities-
I would like to see a more subtle use of the rock texture. Place a solid color layer under your rock layer (maybe a light gray) and reduce the opacity of the rock layer. This would result in a textured background.
And I agree with the change of color on the band. Maybe go mono - use a shade of gray. That way the eye is drawn directly to the flowers..
I really like the example Clive provided. That would be another possibility.
Again - no right or wrong way, but experimenting with various techniques is a great learning experience.
Another direction - experiment with fonts. Flowers are, well, flowery. How about a flowery font? Something cursive.

I like the rocky background just as it is, so, unlike Janice (sorry Janice) I wouldn't reduce it's opacity. This is an example where it's in the eye of the beholder and we all have our own thoughts on how something looks.
As has been mentioned I would change the band behind the photos to something with a hard edge and perhaps using your colour picker you could choose one of the darker greens from the plants to colour the band.
Really, as Janice has said there are endless possibilities here and you have to go with what YOU like.

One more version trying some of the suggestions made. Not sure about the texture of the background. Should be darker? or ?? Clive, really liked that poster, good idea to remember. Font colors, experimenting with selecting color from each different flower. Font choice, one of the hard things for me! Finally, thanks for all the help!

Font choice, one of the hard things for me! Two comments about fonts. 1) It is "ok" to mix fonts a bit, but I'd use only one font for Manitoba/ND 2) The fonts need a shadow or stroke (border) to stand out more. Here are examples with and without

When my titles get 'lost' in the background, I usually put something behind it. Because you already have a band across the page (my go to in a case where the title is hard to read) I can't actually recommend another band of color. Guess I would fall back on changing the text to black.
Or, you can have the bottom half of the page plain and the top half rocky.
Or, how about some tags for your title? PSE has shapes that make good tags.

Or, you can have the bottom half of the page plain and the top half rocky. Title created from two layers of the same text - one dark, one light - one layer offset by a couple of pixels - use the arrows on keyboard to move one pixel at a time - use the shift key with the arrow key to move five pixels at a time
