Chris , I use the gradient map adjustment layer with the blend mode set to difference. I choose which gradient I would like to use based on the colors in the gradient. Just for fun I did a simple comparison on the same image using both methods. I took the colors from the result I got with the solid color adj. layer and used them on the color swatches before trying the gradient map adjustment layer. The results are below. The gradient map maintained more of the white and seemed slightly richer in tone to me. All that being said I don't really prefer one over the other and just like to experiment. Using Solid Color Using Gradient Map

This technique worked, I think, well with a very underexposed picture of Washington, DC

Some very impressive results. As Helen said you can also use the gradient map or gradient fill works as well - just set the blend mode to difference and then play with the gradient to change the result - the possibilities are endless. Here's one I did using gradient fill, using one of the metal gradients with some tweaking of the gradient settings. Tony

I would never think to use this effect on an animal but like the metallic look you achieved. It seems to glow.

I like the way your frame includes part of the picture, Lillias.
