My attempt mainly based on the depth of field guided edit plus framing.

Thanks for showing your result using the depth of field guided edit, Michel. I'm sure this will be of interest to our members who have this option.

Thought I'd try a squarish crop to focus in on the bridge and pagoda. Went with a darker vignette than before and added a Jodi layer style frame. Tony

Or a panorama crop? Tony

Took my first upload and converted to B&W using the Scenic Landscape option.

I have always liked a square crop but never would have thought of it for this image. I really like your result, Tony.
Lillias, I always enjoy seeing how the challenge image looks with a black and white conversion. I hope to try this as well.

My take on a panorama version. I created a B&W version and used it on a separate layer with a blend mode of Limunosity.

One more try at addressing the sense of depth. I did try a monochrome....actually a couple....but I don't like any of them. Hope to try some kind of a painterly look next.

Must we only use PSE or can we use Lightroom or Topaz Impressions?

Berie, you may use any program for your creative vision of the image.

Thank you Helen for providing a fun editing challenge of an interesting subject. Bearing in mind the photographer's interest in depth of scene I: cropped and selectively sharpened only the bridge, gate & pagoda sculpture; removed small distracting elements & cloned out the remaining sky; applied the new PS neural depth blur filter leaving only bridge, gate, etc. in sharpest focus; tweaked the tones of the pagoda sculpture & tree on the right side, and added a final small increase in overall contrast.

Glad you enjoyed the challenge, Pete. It is my favorite and is only made possible by members who are willing to submit a RAW image for others to try work with. This photographer's submission has proven to really make us think about both our editing and cropping choices. I especially like the way you employed the neural depth filter and handled the bridge and pagoda.
