Thank you to everyone who posted an image in the forum and to everyone who has taken the time to look at shared images. Your participation in this humble and friendly image of the week (IOW) feature is much appreciated. As usual, I cruelly chose no more than three images, two special mentions and one IOW. The special mentionsFeathers, by srmoment i.ibb.co/3Tf5L6G/OLYMPUS-DIGITAL-CAMERA.jpg It is a privilege to be able through this honorable community to witness the continuous experimentation and achievements that are at the source of unique and original artistic approaches, such as the one to which this image belongs. This example leans a bit towards the busy side, but all in it is at the service of the theme, feathers, which is impeccably respected. The background almost unites with the foreground. The composition, the colours, and the luminosity are beautiful. Sun Halo on a Cold Day, by pontiac1940 i.ibb.co/TRPqLGy/sun-halo-oldman-CC-CAS06973.jpg Let’s not forget that what we see here has nothing to do with an optical effect. Rather, it is a relatively rare natural phenomenon that does not necessarily stay in place as long as one would wish. The backlit environment at this time of the day is not easy to render. Sound decisions have been made, not only at the time of the capture, but also while processing. The composition is perfect. The foreground and the perspective have been treated with care. This pleasant image is the result of the mastery of a craft. It reveals an authentic moment while also delivering a magical sensation. As if the reality was meeting the fiction. A case where time is of the essence, as well as the place, the angle and the light. The locomotive, the smoke, the presence of the conductor, the bridge, the steep slope, the scenery, everything is impressive.

Maurice, thank you for judging and for your comments with each photo selected! Good comments. Also, thanks for including my sun halo photo. Your comments are spot on. (I have seen sun halos appear and disappear while driving just a short distance.) Congratulations to srmoment and dandc Clive

Thanks so much for the IOW nod Maurice! We've enjoyed riding behind and photographing this locomotive for a few years now. When we arrived at the location this time we had no idea where it would be along the line since they were there to just to the 'test drive' after repairs, not for scheduled rides. After driving the entire route without success we fortunately found it at the station just getting ready to pull-out . . so back in the car we went to hopefully get ahead of it for some shots. This bridge has been one of our favorite vantage points and thankfully only one other photographer was out shooting the train that day so there was room for us as well. To have it include a 'time-correct' consist was an added unexpected bonus. This was one capture of a burst of shots which I was able to put together as a GIF as well. Congratulations to Clive and Pat for their beautiful creations - they were among my favorites this week as well!
