This is a simple trick that can save a lot of time in your workflow. It works with both the full PS and PS Elements. Draw A Straight Line with Any Brush in Photoshop www.yout-ube.com/watch?v=A0jpdLo9iHAIn Lightroom there is another trick. Left click with the adjustment brush. Then increase the brush size with the bracket keys. Then use shift + left click. You will draw a straight CONE shaped line. This is useful, for example, when painting on light rays for a dramatic effect. I haven't yet figured out how to do this in PS Elements. Matt Kloskowski -Brushing In Light with Lightroom (See this technique two minutes into the video) www.yout-ube.com/watch?v=3brfb3Ta3aA Kind regards Chris

I like the connecting method, but keep in mind, if you hold down the shift key while you drag, you will also get a straight line. The advantage of holding down the shift key and dragging is that you can see how the progress of the line/etc., is going while you are doing it - letting you stop at any point when you achieve the look you are going for.
That light ray method of Matt's is really cool. I can see me often using that technique. I like how he reminds us that we can enlarge the size of the brush stroke before we do our end click.

But the cone drawing with the adjustment/masking brush in Lightroom or ACR is a new one to me and could be useful. I have tried to see if it would work with a regular brush but it appears not to. And it’s only available in the full version of Camera Raw and not the Elements one. Tony

It doesn't work with the regular Brush tool in Elements. I'm assuming the problem is that they are two different brush "engines" -- adjustment brush vs painting brush.
