I will let the photos speak for themselves...
These girls were supposed to be in charge of the pony rides. We had our bought-and-paid-for pony ride ticket. We made three attempts to ride the ponies and were met with a lame excuse each time. Actually, they are not ponies at all, but midget dwarf horses, totally unfit for the purpose at hand.
Always before, another group has been in charge of supplying the ponies; those people provided well-broke decent-sized ponies and were always courteous and helpful; and, no ticket necessary. That was definitely not our experience this time. We still have our unused ticket....

UGH! Poor horses. That's terrible. Maybe a compliant or report to the appropriate authority would be helpful.

I agree with the sentiments, but I don't want my house burnt down.
As I already said, other, much better qualified people, have had the pony ride concession for years and did a much better job; these girls must have underbid them and nobody checked them to see if they even had genuine riding ponies.
Me and my cute little sidekick have already been discussing the possibility of us just getting our own string of ponies and put our own bid in for this fall. The problem is that ponies and horses that you couldn't give away a couple years ago are now bringing $2,000 to $6,000 a head --- ridiculous.
Just a very few years ago, people had to keep locks on all their gates, else someone would dump a load of horses in your field.
That happened to a friend of mine; I was there when he got the phone call from the girl across the road who manages his country store; "were you expecting someone to leave some horses today?" "There are six of them....yes...red Ford dually and big aluminum trailer...one of them is a little brown pony" He was livid; I thought it was hilarious.
Another friend made the mistake of leaving his big gooseneck stock trailer at the horse sale without running a log chain and lock through the doors; late that night, he came out to leave and his trailer was full of old cull horses and several tied to the outside.
Somebody, or several somebodies, turned a bunch loose in the Wildlife Management Area.
The worst offenders are always these "horse rescuer" types; they are forever in the news for starving a bunch of horses to death; the same old gals pay their fines, serve their sentences, have their faces plastered all over the news; and, as soon as they get out, rent another farm and fill it full of more horses to starve to death --- what a way to be rescued.
Now, those same people who were getting rid of horses a few years ago are stealing them.
