Motorcycle PackI didn't know there were this many motorcycles in Kentucky; at least fifty had passed before I decided I had better take a few photos.
We were enroute to and within a mile of Home Place on Green River 2022_Spring Festival and Plow Day
We are Northbound on Ky Hwy 55.
The bridge is the Green River Bridge immediately downstream of Green River Lake and Dam.
Left and downstream is Tebb's Bend Civil War Battlefield.

Three Pretty Maids All in a Row
The fat one in the middle with the five-gallon Coke is my cute little sidekick. The blue thing in her hip pocket is a $4 roll-on deodorant gizmo full of some sour vile-tasting blue paint that she is addicted to.

What is it with kids and their liking for sour tasting lollies? We have lizards in Australia called Blue tongues, that's what happens after eating these things. Looks like the girls are off to have some fun at the festival.

Check out her mouth, teeth, and tongue in the upcoming pictures she is in as I get around to getting them posted.

1983-1988 3/4-ton 4X4 Chevrolet/GMC Suburban 7th Generation 1973-1988 I would call this a "Late-Late" 7th Generation 1983-1988
This one has all the good stuff; locking hubs, straight front axle, leaf springs in front, and most likely a New Process 205 transfer case.
According to Wikipedia, Suburban is the longest continuously used automobile nameplate in production. It has traditionally been one of General Motors' most profitable vehicles.
A 2018 iSeeCars.com study identified the Chevrolet Suburban as the car that is driven the most each year. A 2019 iSeeCars.com study named the Chevrolet Suburban the second-ranked longest-lasting vehicle.

In case you're curious about the wording on the trailer door, HERE is what Wikipedia has to say.

A pair of Red Sorrels pulling what I believe to be an Oliver "Chilled" Riding Plow. The green and yellow are more Oliver than John Deere. These riding plows are often called "Sulky Plows" in a sarcastical comparison to the sleek harness-racing sulkies. They have so often been called sulkies that many a wooden-headed country boy who has no idea what a racing sulky is will know exactly what a sulky plow is.
The horses are sweat-soaked, most likely due to eating plenty of corn.
I have seen the driver many times, but can't put a name on him. Notice he is walking behind the plow, instead of riding the seat; maybe these horses have a habit of bolting and he doesn't want to be tangled up in the plow when they do; or, it could just be that he is protecting a tender physical malady.
One horse must walk on the "Land" and the other must walk the "Furrow" You can't just plow to the other end, turn around, and plow back; you must plan this out ahead. In a small field, you would start in the center and work you way to the outsides. In a larger field, you divide the field into smaller portions, where you split the center of one outside portion and plow to and fro until you reach the edge; then, you step over and plow another portion to and fro until you reach where you have already plowed; and, rinse and repeat until the entire field is plowed.
It is well worth your time to read the entire Oliver link above.

Hey, BuckSkin, I am drawn to the conclusion that folks in Kentucky enjoy life. Looks like fun. Clive

Cremello Mules
I am going to call these mules Cremellos; they are not white enough to be white and I don't think they are grey.
I don't know just what they are doing; but, it must have something to do with distance; as, the old man at far right is holding a measuring string and a tape-measure. It is a competition of some kind as there are two more teams waiting their turn. It couldn't be how far they can drag that log; as, they could drag that little fence-post all the way to Murfreesboro and back and not break a sweat.

A few Links about Homeplace
Official Site
FaceBook
Interesting KET VideoOn the FaceBook page, there are several photos and videos scattered throughout, once you get past all the sponsor thank-yous.
I liked this place a lot better when it was a working cattle farm; before all the yuppies took it over and turned it into a politically correct environmentally friendly feel goodie place.
They like to go on about heritage and history, yet they have no clue what it was really all about.
They have two of these festivals each year, spring and fall.
They are a good place to turn the kids loose for a good time; however, each year there is less and less and advertised things are not there when the day arrives.
This year, they doubled the gate price; yet some advertised attractions were a no show and they didn't have enough volunteers to properly man what was going on.
Never before had a ticket been required to ride the ponies and a child could go to the back of the line and ride as many times as they wished; and, other people had the pony concession with genuine decent-sized well-broke ponies. Not so this time; at the gate, after paying double the price, they gave my little buddy a single red ticket and said it was good for a pony ride; with ticket in hand, she made three separate attempts to ride the tiny dwarf horses and was met with some lame excuse each time; "sorry, come back in twenty minutes" ; we came home with an unused ticket and a very disappointed girl.
