I took my initial edit and created a sketch from it and blended it with the original at a reduced opacity of 35%. Created a vignette on photo layer. Placed on a white background with a black border. Added a texture by Jai Johnson on top with the soft light blend mode. Added one of Jodi’s frames to complete the picture. Font for title - Tangerine Regular.

Took the image into Smart Photo Editor and applied the Solarization effect by superdave - . Back in PSE created a black layer mask and brushed back in the parts of the image shown and placed a shadow frame on the image.

I like your framed sketch, Lillias....and the font you used.
And always like that bottom effect with the slice!

First attempt at a basic edit. I've been playing with some recent Matt Kloskowski presets that take advantage of being able to incorporate AI selections of sky and subjects into presets in LR and PS ACR. This was a really good image to try them out. Posting the details wouldn't be very helpful as I tweaked the presets as well as adjusting the preset amounts (another new addition to presets). So basically I did a bit of perspective adjusting and cropping to straighten the buildings and then used the presets to adjust the sky, foreground and subject (the lighthouse) separately using the AI selections that LR came up with. Here's where I finished up so far. Tony

You have brought out some really nice color, Tony. I would imagine it will make a great base for whatever you try next. I need to get better at sky replacements. Will look for some of Matt's tuts.

Nice idea, Jim. I like the way the light shines through the windows.

Nice idea, Jim. I like the way the light shines through the windows. Thanks Helen, I just remembered on the edited image I used a yellow photo filter and when I used the Luminosity, windows went to white light.

I tried the Motion blur technique (approx. Filter>blur>Motion Blur.... 90 degrees for the angle and a distance of 640.) Copied and pasted parts from the original and tried different blend modes. Continued editing in CE 4. using the detail extractor. Added a brushed metal texture.

I used the high key filter in CE 4 plus a touch of swirly strokes from Topaz Impression 1. I then used that image to create a watercolor based on the Scrappy Irene tut.

One more - started from my last one and played around in Topaz Studio 2 - all kinds of possibilities but I finished up with this one and added a Jodi frame layer style. Tony

Thank you, everyone, for participating in this challenge. Selecting 3 was a little difficult but I have to go with, in no particular order, the following:
VickiD and her B/W version BillieJean with the canted frame Helen and the framed/matted version
I look forward to the next challenge that Helen presents!

Thanks for letting us "play" with your Lighthouse, jim0004 . It was a challenge to try to come up with a creative edit. Nice to see my picture included in your selections, as well as those of Lillias ( Lillias ) and Vicki ( VickiD ). If you would like to share how you edited this image it wouldn't have to adhere to the guidelines for the challenge. I always enjoy the RAW challenge and invite all of our members to consider submitting an image for the next one. Feel free to respond to this post or send me a PM.

It was quite a challenge jim0004. Gave the old grey cells a bit of a work over which isn’t a bad thing. Congratulations to Vicki and Helen and I’m honoured to find myself in their company.
