How To Create My Own Signature

Hi seattleddc, glad to see you back here.

Try this . . .

1. Write your signature on a piece of white paper. Use a black pen.
2. Scan or take a photo of your signature.
3. Open your signature file in Elements.
4. Duplicate the Background layer (Ctrl/Cmmd-J).
5. Delete the Background layer.
6. Activate the Magic Wand tool (A). Tolerance = 32, uncheck "Contiguous".
7. Click on the white background area.
8. Press the Delete key on your keyboard.
9. Now you should have your signature displayed on a checkerboard pattern (denoting transparency).
10. Save your signature file as .png.

Thank you both.  Sepiana, you are always immensely helpful.  Mission accomplished, except...... how do I now change that signature from black to white?  I envision a white watermark with a black drop shadow.  Thanks in advance, and thank  you to everyone on here that is always so helpful.

Clive, funny you should say that...after years of making fancy brushes with borders, etc., I went with my real signature and created a brush. I've been using a brush for my signature/logo because they are always handy, can be sized as needed, and the color can be anything you want or need. Years ago, I used a PNG but it had to be opened each time I wanted to use it. That became a pain so when I found out about the brush and it's versatility, I jumped on it!!!

Good you got one working for you! 

If are using the brush, the stamp is always the "foreground color." 
For a shadowed stamp just toggle the foreground/background colors.

This is what I would have done -- fill it with white. It can't get any easier. And, as usual, Elements offers you more than one way to do this. Just take your pick:

- Edit > Fill Selection.
- Use the Paint Bucket tool (K)
- Create a Solid Color fill layer.
