Here in this 3rd-world area where we live, our options are very limited; we are talking to Hughes NET; do any of you guys know anything about them ? BuckSkin, my friend in Virginia (she lives in Bedford, right near the BRP), complains all the time about Hughes Net. I'm sure she doesn't have many options, either! But, as they say, Any port in a storm! Good luck!

Since I have it cobbled together enough for it to work, maybe I can take my time and explore my options; but, I am afraid that it may end up being Hughes NET or no NET.
Thanks for the info.

Well...., my temporary fix kept the wheels rolling until a new replacement power supply from Amazon arrived; now it is being put to the test.
I am keeping my homemade rig on standby, ready at a moments notice should this new Chinese special give up the ghost.
I won't go into all the gory details; but, we decided to keep DISH/ViaSat so long as it lasts, although they claim they are no longer in the internet business and customers are on their own should something happen.
DISH still charges us every month and the internet works; I guess so long as something doesn't rock the boat, we will stay afloat.
I am still interested in that line-of-sight wireless connection, T-Mobile I think it is; $50 month unlimited and no contract.
They claim we are well covered and should get a strong signal.
A neighbor just up the road has leased a piece of his ground and there is a huge tower sticking in the air; he told me that he never had anything else on that farm come even close to what they are paying him every month for the next who knows how many years; I wish they had came and talked to us first --- we are even higher than he is.
There are dozens of antennae and numerous satellite dishes all up and down that tower, besides the main one at the tip-top; there are also a bunch of things that look like big bass drums, two on every leg and about twenty feet apart all the way to the top; I have no idea what they are.
If that T-Mobile repeater is on that tower, we should get a strong signal.

And you didn't take a picture?

actually Buckskin, I don't think you want a tower on your land. There are some pretty serious health issues. ...I'm just waiting to grow a third eye from all the 5G thingies hitting me........
