My favorite layouts are when they tell a story - not that happy with this design, but I do like the story and photos.Front of son's house. On Monday, we were sitting on the porch talking about the fact he had twice requested the city cut down the dead tree. They said it wasn't dead enough. No - that wasn't his car. And, yes, they are coming Friday to cut down the tree.

Oops indeed. Fun page and it does tell the story. And that tree is sure dead now!

I can see where these pictures were a great motivation to you to create this page, Janice. As always I find the design of your page something to learn from. I especially like the "layered" look of the page.

I was having great difficulty with the design of the title. Finally just let the font be the design.
The designs of the two “papers” are brushes using a color just a few “steps” away from the base color.
To create your design on squares, select the square using control click on the layer, open a new layer above it, and use your brush on the new layer. By making a selection first, the brushing is confined to that particular block. Having the brushing on its own layer, allows you to delete or embellish the brush layer if you wish to make a change.

A great way to express your feelings. Hope you send that to city hall.

They said it wasn't dead enough. How dead is 'dead enough'? Do you think the local newspaper would publish this page in their opinions section? You really do need to share it! I love what you did and the font you used for the title really does work. This tells an interesting story!

Love how you documented the scene of 'the crime'. Will you be there to capture the demise of the offending tree?

Love how you documented the scene of 'the crime'. Will you be there to capture the demise of the offending tree? We just happened to be visiting a couple of days before this happened. And we just happened to have the tree discussion. Seems like a weird coincidence to me, but I’ve been having weird coincidences a lot lately I was telling DH about a friend from grade school - about the things we used to do together- and a couple of days later, my brother called to tell me she had died. I had not thought about her for years, did not know she was sick… Really kind of freaked me out

I couldn't help but think of you and your style of scrapping when I saw this segment on Peggy Rowe on Yahoo, Janice. Perhaps there's a book in your future. You have to go pretty far into the interview....but you'll know it when you get there.....I think

Thanks for that link, Helen. I enjoyed her interview.
Ever since I started scrapping, I look at the world in a very different way.
I see colors and my first thought is - that would make a great background paper for a layout.
I see something happening and a title for a scrapbook page pops into my head - then, of course, I need photos to make it happen. Thank goodness, there is now a phone (with a camera) only a purse away.
What did we do without instant access to a camera on our phone? (I know what I did - ever since I got heavy into scrapbooking, I carried my p&s in my purse. Every camera I bought for the last 15 years, had to fit in my pocket or purse so it was readily available.)

Glad you enjoyed it....she reminded me of you as she saw everyday happenings as a "story".
