I struggled with this - finally was inspired by another's layout - where they used a large photo on the left side of the page. I was never going to use the dance photo as the main photo, but... Then... It was too plain for me, so I: Created background texture with brush Created hearts background with a brush To create a title with more interest going for it - with absolutely no real work: Find a unique font Create your title Duplicate your title Recolor one of the title layers Offset one of the title layers so you can see the different colored one (the amount of offset is personal preference - I moved it both sideways and down)

This is how it started out... I'm torn between the two designs - because I'm not crazy about fru-fru - but, then again, I'm not crazy about what I call "collage" designs like this one I so wanted to incorporate the sunset photo, but...

I can see why you are torn between the two layouts, Janice. As a struggling scrapper, who is more comfortable with photography, I prefer the second layout. I am wondering if the photo of the couple could be cropped to remove some of the ceiling?

I think of these two layouts it would have to be the second one for me. The problem is we all have our own ideas for something like this and personally speaking since this about a wedding I would be inclined to make much more of the happy couple. Enlarge their photo and clip to a mask or blend into a background or some such. Our usual mantra applies...it’s not what I think it’s what you like that counts.

I agree about the cropping of the dancing photo - but if I had cropped it more, I wouldn't have been able to use it for that purpose in the first layout.
I don't really love either layout, but then again - the second one isn't finished - I just didn't know where to go after I dropped the photos on the page.
I usually start with my photos - then design around them. As I have mentioned, the layout is always about the photos - the occasion - and not about designing a page.
As for more about the couple - the page was always supposed to be about the venue and the dance photo was just a part of it - that's what was going on in the 'collage' one. I didn't crop the dance photo's ceiling because then the photo would've been the same height as the sunset and I didn't want that much alignment. I already had too much alignment on the page.

Actually this was the one I meant when I said the second one as it was the second in the thread. Sorry if I have confused things. I could understand Lillias' point. Now that it seems it is more about the venue I do like the layout but still think the ceiling has too much dominance in the image with the couple. If you want to consider removing some of the ceiling I would think you could convert it to a smart object and enlarge it to the size you want without so much of the ceiling showing.......if you follow what I mean. Have to add that I can certainly understand and appreciate your struggle as creating a page is always a struggle for me.

Looks like a stunning place to have a wedding, I would devote whole pages to the venue, and then other pages to the couple and their guests.

Helen I had enough pixels to enlarge the photo, the photo would’ve gotten fatter if I shortened it and I didn’t want the photo to take up any more of the width of the page.
Thanks for the input from everyone, it’s always good to know how others see what you were trying to do

Tried Helen's suggestion I had enough pixels, but it wasn't a great quality photo to start with, so enlarging didn't work well. And now, I can more clearly see the DJ in the background - crowding the bride's face... Enlarging the photo didn't do much to the rest of the page - but I still don't like how large it is... It's made the venue's photos even more insignificant... To fit the title, I used the move tool and squeezed in to make it skinnier... It's cleaner without the giant heart, but I was using the heart to make the page a little funkier... It's fun to try different things - you never know how things will turn out until you try.
