Maple with Peculiar Limb

Like me, this old Maple has had a rough life.

It has been struck by lightning; it has had other big trees fall against it; it has had big portions of it to break off; etc., etc.

And now, just today, I noticed this weird limb; maybe it's a fungus; it is too high up for further investigation.

Look it over and see what you think it might be.

On a poverty-level Kentucky budget, a 24-exposure roll of film would have two Christmases and a summer vacation on it and we might have to wait another six months before being able to afford developing the film.
I still have trouble remembering that it doesn't cost anything to take thousands of pictures; it just almost seems impossible to be true.

It is some sort of tail and it belongs to this dude.

When he went down the back side of that fork, I was quick enough to capture his tail.

It sure looks like an awfully long tail for a little old Squirrel.

Possibly so; or, it could be on account of it being so long that the length spreads out the available hair, making it appear less fluffy.
