It’s been 41 days since we first found her sitting on the eggs. I would guess the eggs will not hatch. Now we have to see how long it takes until she gives up. Maybe she likes all the attention she’s getting 😉

There is one possible ray of hope for your eggs. Around here in spring, waterfowl generally do not start incubating until they have finished laying. For geese than can be several days. Once she has done laying, she will then start incubating.
It is most odd and it is possible her eggs are "dead."

At last I can see your page Janice. I've been trying on and off most of the day but all I got was that big blue square from imgbb...most annoying.
Anyway...another nice coordinated page in saga of the muscovy duck and her eggs. I do hope the poor bird does get at least one chick at the end of all this.

The real problem is - unless I see shells or abandoned eggs, I will never know what happened. I assume she will go to the area behind the restaurant when all is said and done. I will not know if she goes alone or with some chicks. It’s not as if she’ll try raising the kids at the restaurant. It’s just not a great place for her family to live - very little plant cover - no water to swim in. Oh well - the best thing I can do is wish her the best and keep filling the water bowl

BTW - to make a stripe like the one on the right side of my layout— just choose a background paper with detail and use the move tool to squeeze in the side until it’s the width you want. The detail becomes enhanced because you are condensing the design. If you just cut a strip from a background paper, you will lose edge detail on one side and you won’t get the effect of condensing the design

Hurricane Ian is bearing down, and those of us in Central Florida have to be concerned. So far, it's just minor rain and light winds, but that is going to change very soon. I was concerned about her, so stopped by. Good thing I did. She did not have any water and when I filled her bowl, she eagerly drank. She seems to be getting used to me being around. We stopped by the area behind the restaurant and found an irrigation ditch filled with water. I am assuming that is where she's from and if there are any babies, that will probably be where she takes them. No matter what, I'm not sure she will be able to stay where she is during the storm - there is no protection from wind or rain. photos: cats 4jan

It's a shame. I hope she doesn't come to any harm but I have to say I don't hold out much hope for her eggs now.

So far, so good. The hurricane landed and although we are on the edge, no where near landfall, our winds are picking up and will sustain for more than 24 hrs near 40 mph. Now I’m getting a little scared. At least we aren’t near any surges they keep talking about. Can’t wait for the rains to hit…
update - 47 mph. Yikes
