Tuesday_16-Aug-2022White-marked Tussock Moth Caterpillar (Orgyia leucostigma)
Note the Tick; that thing must have been on the lens.
DO NOT TOUCH this caterpillar; many people have severe reactions. There are many photos on the internet of people covered in big red welts from touching one of these.
Note: Closest match I could find; possibly mine is not yet mature enough to have the four clumps of bristles; or, this may not be it at all. If anyone can confirm this identification or find one that is a better match, please enlighten me.
I was way out in the big field, taking pictures, when I felt something crawling on the back of my right hand; it was this tiny caterpillar. I put him in a Zip-loc bag and took him to the house for photographing. He is tiny; maybe 1/4-inch long.
He is a quick little dude and will surprise you in how much territory he can cover in a few seconds; a couple hours in the Kelvinator slowed him down nicely.
Belly view; note the suction-cup feet.
When I would raise him for positioning or move my hand away, he would attach himself with a very long strand of web and would be hard to turn loose of on account of the web being stuck to me.
I never had a reaction; maybe he is not yet mature enough for that.
You can learn all about them at Kidadl, Caterpillar Identification, Insect Identification, Discover Life, Butterfly Identification, Bug Guide, and Wikipedia.
