I was just reading about this insect in the National Geographic, how weird! They are one of the better looking pests around, pity they are so destructive.

Thanks, Jacki and Janice......I wanted to create a "pretty" page to emphasize the difference between how they look and what they do.

Can't say I have ever heard of lanternflies. I like how you have emulated their spotted wings on your page using the vertical dotted tape. Interesting article too.

Nice poster Helen. Invasives are worldwide. We have Europe's house sparrows and they have our Canada geese. Most don't cause many problems, but can be annoying and affect native species. That article said, "The 53-year-old chef from Sandy Hook killed about 50 ... spotted lanternflies" I'd find out where Chef Rose works. Not sure I'd want to eat "Today's Special"

It is really a shame these lantern flies are so pretty...they are a real danger to crops. I remember reading that New York State wineries were majorly concerned about the potential damage to their vines...and now we've got them in New Jersey and our wineries are in danger, as well. The danger to certain species of trees is also a major concern. Our community is on the lookout for them. The reaction to these invasive predators reminds me of the 1997 movie, 'Starship Troopers'...where they have scenes of children stomping on bugs...gruesome but appropriate, I think! LOL
Helen, your page is really well done...love what you created!
