I was in the house when the walls, floor, and ceiling started vibrating.
Dishes, pots, and pans on the counter walked off and crashed to the floor.
The land-line phone rang several times.
The sound was absolutely deafening; so loud it was hard to think straight.
I grabbed my camera and ran outside and this is what I saw:
US Army MH-47E Chinook with In-flight Refueling Probe
Chinook (All Models) 1961-Present Manufactured in 1991 - 26 Built Assigned to 2–160th SOAR(A) "Nightstalkers" Based at Fort Campbell, Kentucky
Twin 5,000hp Lycoming T55-GA-714A Engines Lycoming T55 introduced in 1955
Read about the helicopter HERE.
Read about the engines HERE and HERE.
Those streaks left in the sky by the blades are a vacuum, devoid of anything, where the atmosphere has not had time to recover from the turbulence created by the immense force required to keep such a massive bird in the sky.

Don't know if it is the same model helicopter; but we have had them fly over the condo occasionally and I can relate to the noise you are describing.

I have always admired pilots who re fuel in flight. Surely, doing that with a helicopter must be more difficult still.
