Not sure where to post this so doing it here.
I have Elements 8 (which I seldom use anymore) and also 13 and was thinking about buying PSE 2022. After reading 20 or so comments about it on Amazon's web site though and not being very techie, I really am afraid to. I mean the majority of the commenters there hate it, feel ripped off, had terrible problems trying to D/L it or get the correct registration codes, received little or no help from Amazon reps., were sent back and forth from Amazon to Adobe and back again, and were told the digital program was not refundable! One person said they even had trouble after buying the actual CD version of 2022 from Adobe. My PC is using "5.4/7.9" GB of memory on it and I believe PSE 2022 requires at least 8 GB Ram so I don't want to risk uninstalling my version 13 to make room if there's little chance that 2022 will work. Has anyone here purchased PSE 2022 and been happy with it? I'd appreciate your input on this. Thanks.

My guess is that your experiences wouldn't be any better; especially if, as you say, you are not very "techie".
More and more, it is getting to where when you buy something that is more or less smoke in the wind, once they get your money, it is very difficult to get it back if you are not satisfied.

There would be no gain in usable RAM by uninstalling an existing program --- so long as that program is not in use, it is not using any resources.

I’m very pleased with its performance. I have no experience with purchasing Elements from Adobe authorized retailers. Going back to PSE 7, I have always purchased it directly from Adobe. Adobe stopped selling "boxed" versions of their software quite a while back; now they only sell the download version. Those who prefer having the CD will have to purchase it from Adobe authorized retailers. I would strongly recommend you download the 30-day free trial and test the waters. In this way, you will be able to make an informed decision, one which meets your needs and interests. Try Photoshop Elements 2022As far as your computer being able to handle PSE 2022, . . . you may want to check this Adobe document. PSE 2022 -- System Requirements
As far as you not being "very techie", . . . don't worry about it. Some of our members have upgraded to PSE 2022. You can get help if you need to. PSE&M is the place for all things Elements. You can also get help from Adobe Support Community -- Photoshop Elements.

Thank you, Sepiana. I d/l and installed the 30 day free trial this afternoon but just got time to look at it 30 minutes ago. About all I see so far are "What's New" and "watch this video" to see how various new functions work type of pages...no editor page or anything. Don't we get the full program with the 30 day version so we can actually work on our own images or just several videos? I'll have to spend more time with it this weekend.

Hi Jim, FYI: PSE 2013 was the first 64-bit version of Photoshop Elements. Also FYI: Photoshop elements IS the same code base as Photoshop, but with certain features disabled. The point being, as Photoshop advances, so does PSE.
There are performance improvements with every version, and that is the most important feature for me. A new version of PSE is released every year. My sense is that most of the sour grapes of some users upgrading from one version to the very next is that they didn't see some sort of quantum leap in features. I agree that the delta is usually not very great. That is why I skip a version or two between upgrades.
Using the 30 day trial version will allow you to determine if it runs properly and perhaps offers new features that you appreciate.

Jim, as has already been mentioned, your best bet is to download the trial. You could also consider upgrading your computer with a fast ssd and more ram if it is practical for you to do so. The newer versions of PSE offer some cool features. I am using PSE 2020. I like the smile feature and the auto black and white to colour feature. You can compare PSE 2022 with your version here: www.adobe.com/cy_en/products/photoshop-elements/upgrade.html However PSE 2023 will probably be released in October so it might be worth waiting to see what that will have to offer before deciding. Kind regards Chris

I did d/l 2022 last weekend but been too busy to play with it much. Just read today how to avoid the welcome screen and pin the editor icon to the taskbar. After pretty much dropping out of photography and photo editing for the past several years because of physical issues, my head is spinning from reading and watching so many tuts, etc. ... not to mention discovering all the extra software that's available now like Topaz Studios, Smart Photo Editor, Dynamic Auto Painter Pro, and on and on it goes. Just taking a breath and trying to take it a step at a time now. I did wonder if 2023 version will be a significant upgrade also so will probably wait. Thanks.

Isn't it nice to buy a new version of an app and then get to watch a sales pitch? A few years back Adobe decided to open Elements by first creating a screen with all the, IMHO, much less useful functions as icons for you to click. If you look at that start up screen again, I think you will see something labeled Editor. That is your new version of Photoshop Elements! To me, this is simply adding a useless step in opening the app you actually want; PSE. Of course, many others like/use these other functions and will 'roast' me for suggesting otherwise! I skip that screen my making a shortcut (I think that is the correct Windows term) so that PSE opens like it used to. Rest assured, your trial download has the real PSE app; it simply will stop opening when the trial time limit runs out. You might want to 'exercise' PSE 2022/23' and see if there are any differences you need to make in the way you use this new version. The folks here will be happy and quick to help with those concerns. 👍
