That’s a lot of water, not sure I would be driving through it. Does this mean you have been unable to leave your building? Have seen the terrible destruction that Ian has left in its wake, hope you and the family are not affected. Have been wondering how Janice has fared.

Jacki, Ian was a no show here. At the last minute, the hurricane veered south so when it came onto land it totally missed us. In fact, we didn’t even get the rain we were looking forward to since its been so dry around here. We had sustained 40+ mph winds, but amazingly, when we went out the next day, we didn’t even see debris and branches- unlike the aftermath of other non-hurricane rain storms. Plus, we didn’t experience any electrical outages around here.
Fortunately, because we live in the center of the state, storm surge was never a worry, so flooding wasn’t a worry. Living on the coast in a hurricane prone state seems too chancy to us. Would never live there. In fact, this hurricane stuff, although not a big deal for us, is getting a little “old”. This is the second one in 5 years that we had to be genuinely concerned about.
I am so thankful and so sorry for those whose outcomes were so devastating.

Helen, like Lillias said, your page does a great job of telling the story. Nicely done.

jackscrap......I think there was an event at the restaurant. When people arrived the parking lot was fine.....however high tide occurred before the event was over....thus the flooding of the lot and road. As a coastal town we are prone to flooding. Our building has a side gate that allows residents to avoid the road in the front of the building when it is flooded. However, for people at the restaurant all entrance/exit ways were flooded.
