I finally have something to contribute instead of perpetually asking questions. The project was a big one. I took all my photos, literally thousands, and put the ones that are most meaningful to me in a photo book. I had many decades of photos residing in albums, boxes, on the walls, slides, you name it. Researching how to go about this produced some good information but not nearly enough.
My decision was that one book would not cover all the territory I had ahead. I learned about a technique called mind-mapping and used it to devise an organizational plan. All photos would be put in one of four categories: People, Places, Travel, and Events. I found at the end there were some miscellaneous photos which fit no category so I created a fifth book, "More Memories."
The first thing I had to do was define for myself what would and what would not go into each book. This system of giving each category a definition worked out well. I feel everything was touched upon but without being a jumbled mess. As to why I did it, I do have an answer. I love working with photos and I love an empty page. What better way to spend the gift of time afforded by the pandemic than doing something I thought I would never have time to do!

Your determination paid off all around, Pat! This was a huge accomplishment and I'm so glad you shared your results with us. I especially like the raining crayons on the first cover.

I love the covers you created for your memory books! I'd love to see some of the pages in those books. Did you create journal pages?

Hello Vicki
No, I didn't really set out to create journal pages, but some of the photo pages are a combination of text and photos. It was my intent to post a few of those along with some text. I had a bad time trying to get the hang of this section of PSE&More, so only the first part of my post is here. If I have the will power to post the rest of it (with images) I will do so tomorrow. Thank you for your interest and kind words. I appreciate it.

There is a saying ‘Slow and steady wins the race’ and I think you have demonstrated this in your Photo Book project Pat. Well done and the cover pages for each section look great.

Thank you for adding the additional pages Pat; and thanks to Vicki for asking. I love your computer room! You certainly have experienced the ups and downs of life and are well-traveled. I am sure these books bring back a multitude of memories from the places you have traveled and your shared experiences with family and friends. What a wonderful achievement....I applaud your commitment to this project....which I remember you started years ago.

Thank you for the positive comment, Jan. Actually I am finished with all the above books. The last three images are just random pages I included here, mostly in response to the comment Vicki made. I have so many favorites that picking any of the pages was kind of difficult for me. ha!
