2015 Cirrus SR22 N4971
It was almost dark outside when I heard this plane coming over; I grabbed the camera and had just seconds before it disappeared over the tree-line.
This is the best of the thirty photos that I took --- ISO 16,000; in the original, the plane was just a black smudge in a very noisy sky.
The photo is definitely no prize winner; but, I learned a lot of interesting things researching it, including the fact that these aircraft are equipped with a whole plane parachute that can be deployed to bring her down almost damage free --- it has been proven on a number of occasions.
This plane has had a repaint since the January 2021 photo (linked to below) and does not even resemble it's former self; plus, it now has a big green "A" on the tail fin, possibly for Airmart; had it not been for the flight plan putting her right where my camera clock put her, I would have thought I had misidentified it.
Just to be sure, I checked every other possible; and, either they were thousands of miles away, or hadn't been off the ground in weeks; N4971 was the only aircraft anywhere near me that night.
I am going to keep an eye out; sooner or later, someone will post an on-the-ground image in her new colors.
According to the flight plan, the plane left our local airstrip and landed at Bluegrass Field in Lexington, Kentucky; it is a bit over 100 road miles from our local airstrip to Bluegrass, and will take a good two hours plus to drive it; she drifted some nine miles off course and still set down at Bluegrass in 23 minutes --- amazing.

I know it is not the greatest picture; however, I hope you found the information interesting.
