Boils down to personal taste. The original image stands up very well on it's own imo. That backround doesn't match the original image at all, but that is not to say a more suitable background would not look ok if that is what GG is actually looking for. Personally I doubt it. Imho the demo background and image is too "busy" for my liking. But I'm assuming this isn't a competition so it boils down to what GG's personal taste is and how she chooses to get the end result she wants

Wonderful thread with great suggestions. I have printed square books from presto photo and can only speak of that experience. You can choose a variety of square sizes and i have been given a warning if there is not enough pixels to print properly. I find all the ideas in this thread to be fantastic options.

I've had a quick look at Presto's web site and I saw they recommend 300 PPI which is the generally accepted minimum I posted before.

Will - why are you being combative?
This is a learning site and I throw out alternate ideas for options - NOT to say my ideas are superior to yours.
My example didn't turn out all that good and if I had planned on keeping it rather than just using it as an example, I would have redone it.
It was an illustration of what I was talking about, and for that purpose, it works.

And of course for future LOs I would recommend always making them 12x12 - I always do mine that way, though 99% of the time I print 8x8 layouts. It's so much easier that way!

Bayla - I'm with you. I create in 12x12 and print in 8x8 -- very easy to go down in size - not always easy to go up in size.
The main reason I create in 12x12 is that items in a scrapbook kit are usually designed to go on 12x12 layouts. By creating in 12x12, there isn't alot of resizing of embellishments and background papers needed. Printing at 8x8 from a 12x12 is simple to do - much simpler than spending all that time resizing scrapbook elements to fit an 8x8.
