Quick follow-up ... I copied your settings on DNG converter (with Oly instead of nik) and that worked perfectly. I now have manageable file names. Thanks for your help and especially the example pic - that helped a lot.

Hi,
My version of Adobe DNG converter is V 9.1.0.441
The settings is #3 are : in your red box : Document Name in your green box : yymmdd (date) in your blue box : .dng
I suspect my problem and solution is in the red and green boxes, as there are many selections in the drop-down menus and I don't know which to select. I'll try copying yours using "oly" + document name. Thank you for your help.

Hi,
Can anyone help me correct this problem ?
I have to use the Adobe DNG converter to change my .orf files (Olympus) to .dng files so that I can use my PSE 9 and ACR to post process my images. PSE 9 ACR isn't compatible with .orf files.
My problem is that after the DNG converter is applied, my file names are extremely long and would prefer to shorten them. I've tried to correct it on the #3 "name for coverted images" on ADNG, but with all their choices it is still too long.
An example is a file name from my camera is numbered as 100-0164. After converting it to a .dng file the file is re-named as oly9016420161028.dng. I added the "oly" prefix to help me identify the camera I used, since I have a Pentax, Fuji, and two Olympus models. I can ditch the "oly" part if necessary, but I really do need to abbreviate the rest of that long file name.
Thanks for your help.

Thank you Michelb and Sepiana for saving me once again. I have been using PSE 9 for so long it's like breathing. You don't think about it, you just do it. I have a bit of a learning curve challenge ahead.
Appreciate your help.

Hi Again,
Still playing around with PSE 15 trial version and enjoying it. Here's my question, on PSE 9 I could see a Properties tab for my image by right clicking and selecting it from a pop-up menu. I can't replicate this with PSE 15. Can someone please tell me how to see the properties info on an image.
Thanks again for your time and patience.

Last question for today ... Can I change the light gray on the Organizer and Editor to dark gray for easier viewing ?
Thanks again

Still using my trusty old PSE 9, but have downloaded the new PSE 15 trial version. Just started digging around, but I notice that PSE 15 doesn't have an email option under the Share tab. Is this email option removed ? Thanks for your help. Oops ! never mind ... working fine now

Sepiana to the rescue again. Following your step-by-step instructions I have your Orb action working perfectly. I never could've done that by myself. Thank you for your time, help, and patience. It is greatly appreciated.

PC with Windows 7.
Downloaded the .atn file and double-click does nothing, as well as RT click > OPEN command. Doesn't unzip either. I know it's me, but can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

While trying to figure things out, I noticed that the "Expand all version sets" command is not ghosted if I select an individual image. If I "Select All" the "Expand all version sets" is then ghosted.

When you backup from the organizer, the restore includes all files, not only the 'top of stacks' or the 'top of version sets'. I don't have version 9, but try this: - use the shortcut Ctrl Alt V to select all version sets (or the menu Find) - Select All (Ctrl A) - right click one thumbnail and wait a few seconds until you get a contextual menu, choose 'version sets' - your options to expand should be available. Thanks for the suggestion, but the "Expand all version sets" command is still ghosted.

I've noticed that all my images from 2015 that I backed up to a separate hard drive only include the JPEG files and not the DNG files. I prefer to have both.
Using PSE 9, EDIT>SELECT ALL, and EDIT>VERSION SET, and VERSION SET>EXPAND ITEMS IN VERSION SET is ghosted out. How can I expand the version sets so that I can SELECT ALL for the back up download ?
The images in my catalog are in a combined version set mode, but SELECT ALL doesn't include the DNG files. Opening each version set by clicking the arrow on the side of the image pane is too time consuming.
Thanks for any help.

Quick follow-up. Bought my TG-4 this morning and was able to convert the proprietary .orf file to .dng with success. It took me a few tries to get it right and it does add a few extra steps with my PSE9, but works great. Thanks again for the help.
