After many years with PSE I'm really in a comfort zone. Being only a novice in editing I find PSE combined with Topaz filters did what I need. I found additional features in LR that go above and beyond in the raw edits I can do in PSE, but I am still in the learning phase and it gives many more options than PSE. I don't find the transition that hard. I never used Organizer in PSE and the LR catalog is kind of nice but I don't do that many pictures where I really need it. I just like the variety of options in the develop module. I also like the subscription service and the use of Photo Shop for special effects and I can drop the subscription at any time. I've only subscribed for a few months and I still find myself using PSE quite a bit. Just my amateur opinion.

I've been a PSE user since PSE5 and have updated every other year thru PSE13 and have taken online classes each time I updated. I am still very satisfied with PSE but had to give the new LR & PS subscription a try. I also have most of the Topaz filters that work with all my editing programs. I like the Creative Cloud videos to learn but I really wanted a text book to work by for a desk reference. I found Scott Kelby's book "The Adobe LightRoom CC Book" and bought a copy. I found it very easy for a beginner to follow from importing, organizing, and different developing modules. I still save my photos to my windows file system by year and month then import the whole file into LR and then make a catorgy for the photos I choose to keep.

Thanks Sepiana. I'm trying to learn lightroom also and guess I had too much info floating around in my head and I forgot the simple basics ... Dave

An old one from a previous class. I like displacement maps.

I don't post any images on the internet or photo groups that I would be concerned about someone grabbing them to use or repost for whatever purpose. I scan P-Base often to look at pics, mostly for composition, subject matter and editing ideas and I find a site like that as being very venerable to people stealing personal pics. If I post to groups like ours and topaz I really don't care if someone takes one of my pics to play with to use different techniques and even repost. I found f-stops post as a reminder to how easy it is to steal a pic as I hope others will. I did learn something new about Java Script. I also understand Julies concern about giving instructions, but I found it as more of an information post.

Has always worked fine for me in Win7 with PSE13 but I have a long font list and sometimes it hangs up and I have to start over from the hang up point. Your tip sure does save a lot of time when you want to try different fonts. Thanks for the reminder ... Dave

Very nice picture. I have a lot of Cardinals around and I do notice the males do a lot of the feeding to the young.

I've downloaded and installed the presets for raw from OnOne but cannot bring them up in any of my programs. A question for anyone who has used them is do they just appear in PS cc14 or do they also appear in LR? I followed OnOne installation instructions and may have mis read or made a mistake. Any experience or advice is appreciated. Thanks ... Dave

No matter which shot the crystal clear focus, contrast and sharpness is fantastic.

I've got the correct version of ARC and you're right Colin, when I open a LR image thru the back door into PSE it does open as a tiff. It's not that big of a deal after I copied my topaz filters into PS CC. Thanks for the info ... Dave

When you do sys restore it should bring up a couple of dates and a option to pick an earlier date . I usually check that box and it will allow you to go way back to pick a date you feel comfortable with. Most times I usually do a sys restore in safe mode so other programs do not interfere. Hope that helps ... Dave
