I started out with Topaz to add to PSE and have the majority of them. I like the ability to tweak the effects. I got sucked into the LR & PS subscription. I like LR but still use PSE and Topaz a lot and very seldom us PS due to my lack of knowledge of it. In reference to your post I notice everyone is coming out with 'Presets' at reasonable prices that can end up nickel and dimeing you to death. Just wondered what other members thought about all these presets.

I'm lost. I can't find category on the red banner. Just home, members, latest gallery posts, etc. Sorry

How do I create a new thread, post or just plain start a topic with a new question for advice without jumping in to a quick reply on someones topic? Thanks I know I'm missing something simple.

Thanks Sepiana. I'm just a hobbyist and not a pro so not sure what the more possibilities are. I use PS very little vs PSE so I guess I'll try the free before making a purchase decision.

PanosFX. I think this is what you want. They have a paid and a free version. www.panosfx.com/commercial-free-photoshop-actions/books-brochures-boxesI really liked the open book effect and was looking into purchasing panosfx for other effects. I have PSE 13 and also PScc/LR subscription. Panos offers a purchase for either/or. Wondering which I should purchase and if it is interchangeable. I don't want to purchase it for PScc and then if I drop the subscription it will no longer work in PSE. I am really more comfortable working in PSE but only subscribed to cc for the advanced raw editing in LR. Thanks for any advice before my purchase.

I bought a new desktop 6 months ago that came with Win10 and I changed the specs in order to stay with Win7. I've read mixed reviews about the Win10 operating system and auto update issues that may be a problem for some computer users, but as far as software issues such as photo editing with Win 10 I have not heard of many. I guess it's a personal choice but with me I'll stay with what works. I get my info off some reputable computer forums. Good luck on your choice .... Dave

Thanks for the info storkington. I was trying out the subscription for a while, don't know how long because I don't use it that often. Mainly LR for the raw files and PS for more capabilities for photo manipulation and special effects. I'm probably going to give the subscription up shortly because the little bit I do I find PSE11 & Topaz filters work fine for me. Once again, thanks for the info ... Dave

I thought if you had the subscription CC LR & PS and quit subscribing the programs still remain on your computer for use but you just don't get any updates?

Dish net (Hughs Network) satellite. I'm down in a little hollow in mountains in the SW corner of NC. The Ping is my major problem but not a major issue with pictures or the video tutorials. Ping: 702 ms DL: 8.38 Mbps UL: 0.39 Mbps Dave - Did you answer the poll? I didn't see any satellite users tallied. I did now, sorry.

You are very lucky Scania. We have fiber optics in our area but not available to areas off the highway due to the lack of population vs cost benefit to the provider.

I looked into SSD drives for back ups. The only drawback I saw was the price vs the number of times you can re-write to them. It's my understanding of the circuitry in them limits the re-writes. I personally like flash (thumb) drives for my photo back ups because they are making them so large for storage. Both have their own purpose depending on your needs, but just something to think about. I have never used a SSD drive so I'm just talking from what I've read .... Dave

I've had LR CC and PS subscription for 3 months now. Not being a professional photographer that edits for printing I find that PSE 13 with it's raw editing capability plus topaz filters does most everything I need and is in my comfort zone. I do like Photo Shop for doing special effects. I purchased Scott Kelby's book "Lightroom CC for Digital Photographers" and found it easy to follow and very helpful. Even though I don't use LR that much, for the Creative Cloud subscription @ $10 a month it's a keeper. Good luck and I think it's worth a try for anyone ... Dave
