I just had a new computer made for me this last week. My old one was 11 years old. I own Photoshop Elements 2021. I am using Windows 10. Why do I not see the filename of the picture in the top left corner like I always USED to see in PSE2021?? (and all other versions of PSE?) What if I have more then one image open in PSE with no filenames up top? How do I select different a picture??

Charles,
As you just got a new computer - Congrats - is it possible that it's a display setting on your computer that it is scaling to large and cuts off the top the elements screen?
As a last resort you could try one of the following to reset elements preference: I must say that I cannot recreate this issue.
Press and hold Alt+Control+Shift immediately after Photoshop Elements begins launching. Click Yes to delete the Adobe Photoshop Elements settings file.
or
Go to Edit > Preferences click the Reset Preferences on next launch button, and then click OK. When you restart Adobe Photoshop Elements, all preferences are reset to default settings.

You said: You do not give me a clue as to how to try fixing this, if it is my problem?? If it is not my problem, how do I go back and undo what I just did?? Thank you for this question to try and fix my problem.

Charles I gave you two items to check.
One - Reset you Photoshop elements preferences using the process that I outlined. To the best of your knowledge - have you ever changed any of them? You can take screen shot's of the different menus before you reset.
Two - as you now have a new computer, new video board, new video drivers and the same old elements software that was transferred, I suggested that you look at your display settings.
No matter what setting I change on my MAC I cannot reproduce your issue. That is why I suggested checking your display settings.

I have no idea where to find display settings.
I will now try the two ideas you first gave me.

Frank, I just tried to press and hold ALT=CONTROL+SHIFT 3 or 4 times but could not get Delete the Adobe PE settings file. It loaded way too fast I guess, SO I went to Edit > Preferences click the Reset Preferences on next launch button. I do not find Reset Preferences on next launch button. Am I looking in the correct area??

Click on General (Screen Shot from a MAC) Thank you!! I did find this and did do the reset!! However that does not fix the not seeing the filename inside PE. I did close and re-open PSE but I still do not see the filenames inside Elements. Do you have any other ideas??

Inspeqtor, The View > File Names is a feature of the Organizer. I don't see how this could cause the problem you are having in the Editor. There are many Elements users who bypass/avoid the Organizer and don't have this problem. I also have PSE 2021 (Windows) installed on two machines; I haven't encountered this problem. So, I'm taking a very long shot in the dark. Try this "trick". It seems to fix many glitches Elements develops. 1. Right-click on the desktop shortcut and select "Run as administrator". 2. Open a couple of files in the Editor. 3. Check to see if the file names are visible. 4. If everything is working fine, close Elements. 5. Open Elements again but this time do it from your standard user account (the way you usually do).

Charles, You need to right-click on the desktop shortcut for PSE 2021. Once you right-click on it, a drop-down menu will pop up. Just click on "Run as administrator". NOTE: You will be asked to enter your administrator username and password. Then, PSE 2021 will open.

Charles, Please try this 1. Open photoshop elements 2. Go to Edit, Preferences, General 3. Make sure these two boxes are checked 4. Click OK 5. Close photoshop elements 6. Open photoshop elements 7. Go to View and click on rulers 8. Open at least two or more images 9. Does the file name show on the top of the floating tab?
